The Daily Word: Stacey Dash Thinks BET and Black History Month Are A Form of Segregation!

Stacey Dash

*Kanye West voice* Stacey Dash doesn’t care about black people nor does she like them. Stacey Dash continues to spew out nonsense all in the name of soundbites and Fox News continues to supply the soap box for her to do so. This years Oscars are the talk of the nation after the nominees were revealed and were once again completely dominated by white actors and actresses.

Dash appeared on Fox and Friends to talk about the subject, which ultimately lead to most dumbest statements we have ever heard.

Dash of course didn’t agree with Jada Pinkett-Smith and Spike Lee’s decisions to boycott (Spike says he is not boycotting) the awards. Here’s what she spewed:

I think it ‘s ludicrous, because we have to make up our minds.Either we want have segregation or integration and if we don’t want segregation we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and The Image awards. Where you’re only awarded if your black, if it were the other way around we would be up in arms.  It’s a double standard.

But wait, there’s more! She even feels that there shouldn’t be a black history month either. Dash states:

Just like there shouldn’t be a Black History Month. We’re Americans period!

Seriously she should have ended her sentence with this:

Like everyone on that god awful news channel Stacey still found a way to blame Barack Obama for what’s going on in Hollywood in typical Republican fashion.

It’s times like this we wished there was really a racial draft, we would trade Stacey for ANYTHING at this point, just to get her out here. You actually have to see this to believe it though.:

Of course social media had to sound off and BET repsonded on the matter. Hit the gallery to see best Twitter reactions to Stacey’s tomfoolery below:

Watch: Worst Heroes Ever In New ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer [Video]

We’ve finally been given another glimpse into the highly anticipated Suicide Squad movie. The film stars Jared Leto as The Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Common as Tattooed Man, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang.

These unlikely heroes, described as “the worst of the worst” have been handpicked by Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis, to go after evil characters as part of a black ops team known as Task Force X. Rick Flag, portrayed by Joel Kinnaman, is tasked with keeping this group of criminals in line as they set out to save the world. What exactly does that entail? All we know is, “[They] are going somewhere really bad to do something that will get [them] killed.”

You can watch the newest trailer for the latest film installment in the DC Universe below. If you missed the first trailer and the recently released posters for the film you can catch them below as well. Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5th.

The Word: Aunt Viv (Janet Hubert) Fires Back At The Smiths, Calls Them Out On Their Hypocrisy!

Janet Hubert

The “blacktress” Janet Hubert is not here for the lets boycott The Oscars train being driven by Jada Pinkett Smith. Aunt Viv took to her Facebook page on MLK day to call out Jada and her husband Will Smith for what she considers bull you know what. We knew we was in for a treat when she started out her rant with “Ms thing” and “does your man not have a mouth of his own with which to speak ?”.

In case you missed it, in a video posted to her Facebook page, Jada Pinkett Smith made it very clear that she and we will assume her husband Will Smith will have nothing to do with The Oscars this year. She also urged other black actors and actresses to follow her lead and do the same.

Now Jada and will are facing a lot of backlash over comments Will made about encountering race in the industry during a round-table discussion with The Hollywood Reporter. Will’s comment in question is his eluding to “racism being rare” in the industry, which understandably has people frowning at Jada and her call to boycott. Peep the interview below:

Now Jada wasn’t alone, quickly after famed director Spike Lee announced via his Instagram account he would also be boycotting The Oscars this year. Now keep in mind he did already accept his honorary Oscar already this past November. He also did touch lack of diversity in Hollywood as well at the same time. Checkout what Mr.Lee had to say on his decision to boycott below:

#OscarsSoWhite… Again. I Would Like To Thank President Cheryl Boone Isaacs And The Board Of Governors Of The Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts And Sciences For Awarding Me an Honorary Oscar This Past November. I Am Most Appreciative. However My Wife, Mrs. Tonya Lewis Lee And I Will Not Be Attending The Oscar Ceremony This Coming February. We Cannot Support It And Mean No Disrespect To My Friends, Host Chris Rock and Producer Reggie Hudlin, President Isaacs And The Academy. But, How Is It Possible For The 2nd Consecutive Year All 20 Contenders Under The Actor Category Are White? And Let's Not Even Get Into The Other Branches. 40 White Actors In 2 Years And No Flava At All. We Can't Act?! WTF!! It's No Coincidence I'm Writing This As We Celebrate The 30th Anniversary Of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday. Dr. King Said "There Comes A Time When One Must Take A Position That Is Neither Safe, Nor Politic, Nor Popular But He Must Take It Because Conscience Tells Him It's Right". For Too Many Years When The Oscars Nominations Are Revealed, My Office Phone Rings Off The Hook With The Media Asking Me My Opinion About The Lack Of African-Americans And This Year Was No Different. For Once, (Maybe) I Would Like The Media To Ask All The White Nominees And Studio Heads How They Feel About Another All White Ballot. If Someone Has Addressed This And I Missed It Then I Stand Mistaken. As I See It, The Academy Awards Is Not Where The "Real" Battle Is. It's In The Executive Office Of The Hollywood Studios And TV And Cable Networks. This Is Where The Gate Keepers Decide What Gets Made And What Gets Jettisoned To "Turnaround" Or Scrap Heap. This Is What's Important. The Gate Keepers. Those With "The Green Light" Vote. As The Great Actor Leslie Odom Jr. Sings And Dances In The Game Changing Broadway Musical HAMILTON, "I WANNA BE IN THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS". People, The Truth Is We Ain't In Those Rooms And Until Minorities Are, The Oscar Nominees Will Remain Lilly White. (Cont'd)

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – His senior photo from Morehouse College (Class of 1948) Good morning, people. With my essay " #OscarsSoWhite …Again" that I posted yesterday, it was cut off half way through. This is the remainder of it. Please read and Thank You for your love and support for the position my wife, Ms. Tonya Lewis Lee and I have taken for the upcoming 2016 Oscars. ———————— As I Said In My Honorary Oscar Acceptance Speech, It's Easier For An African-American To Be President Of The United States Than Be President Of A Hollywood Studio. Also The United States Census Bureau Released A Report Stating White Americans Will Be A Minority In America By The Year 2044. Don't You Think It's A Wise Business Decision To Have Your Product And Workforce Reflect The Diversity Of The Greatest Country On This God's Earth? I Ask, What's The Hold Up? And Please… Don't Go To The Well And Say There Are No Qualified Minority Candidates For These Green Light Gate Keeping Positions. It's Amazing How Far Sports And Music Have Moved Ahead Of Hollywood And Television, But Maybe We Can Learn From Them Too. Your Honor, I Present Exhibit A: The National Football League's Rooney Rule. It's Named After The Late Dan Rooney, Owner Of The Pittsburgh Steelers. Mr. Rooney Was Also Chairman Of The League's Diversity Committee. The Rooney Rule States NFL Teams MUST Interview Minority Candidates For The Positions Of Head Coach And Senior Football Executives Before Hires. Since Being Put In Place Before The 2006 Season, African-American Hires Have Increased. Facebook And Pinterest Have Their Own Version Of The Rooney Rule To Hire Minorities. Why Can't Hollywood Do The Same? It's Worth The Effort Or It Will Be The Same Old Hi-Jinks. I Do Hope In My Children's Lifetime Things Will Change For The Betterment Of All Americans. Which brings us to last night, Janet Hubert, whom is affectionately known to us all as Aunt Viv from the classic 90’s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air gave her opinion on the matter. Now if you can ignore the messenger and whether or not she is “salty”, made some valid points in the video. Hubert used her best comic book filter and called out the Smith’s for being pretty much hypocrites and wasting time on a matter that no one should really care about. Hubert also brought up in her rant an incident from the past where Will Smith only looked out for his best interest instead of the cast of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She also pointed out that Jada should be more focused on the current issues such as people dying, our boys dying, bills and the Oscar gripe just “ain’t that deep”.  See Janet’s entire video below:

Now again she makes some valid points, but we will let you voice your opinion on the matter. Do you think the blacktress is speaking the truth? Or is she still bitter about what happened to her on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air?  Let us know in the comment section below.

If you missed this year’s 2016 Golden Globes then you missed one hell of a Black Magic moment!

From Taraji P. Henson winning her first Golden Globe award, Denzel Washington being honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, Jamie Foxx‘s hilarious on-stage jokes and more.

But Kevin Hart has now stamped a goal from his vision board as he shared the red carpet with none other than Philly native, comedian, actor, artist; Will Smith.

Kevin headed over to Instagram to share what was an emotional moment for him as he and Will shared the carpet, greeted fans, took selfies and photos all while dishing out some brotherly love. It was a magical story for the two Philly cohorts, and a dream come true for Kevin.

Wow….Such a amazing and memorable moment for me. Here is why….Will Smith is what I refer to as a “Philly Hero”….This man motivated the shit out of me.

Thanks to Kevin Hart for displaying such a positive message and to show that it is “OK” to honor those that paved the way.

New Music: Will Smith’s Son, Trey “AcE” Smith Honors Queen Bey with “Blame It On Beyonce”

trey ace smith

The oldest son of actor Will Smith, Trey “AcE” Smith releases his debut track honoring the Queen Bey on her birthday called “Blame It On Beyonce” featuring singer DeCarlo.

Always receiving mounds of support from his parents, Both Will and Sheree Zampino (VH1’s Hollywood Exes), his Stepmom Jada Pinkett-Smith, and his younger siblings Jaden & Willow, Trey has always had a strong love for music and with that backing of love, his family cheered him on every step of the way. Now, he’s ready to show the world what he’s really capable of, sans not being directly in the forefront as much in the past on a artist/music level. But now, he’s willing and able to take things a little further musically.

Today, Trey goes by his official stage name AcE. “Who Is AcE?,” you ask. Well, the talented ‘Master Artist’ is here to give you a full rundown of what he has in-store, and to keep the family tradition going by dropping his very first official single about King Bey herself, which he produced on his very own.

AcE says:

“Blame It On Beyoncé” – Is a song that’s inspired by the impact Beyoncé has made on pop culture. From women to fashion and music, her presence is felt everywhere. The concept of the song came about a year ago at Coachella. The festival was packed with Beyonce inspired fashion, attitude and confidence within women. A song that pays homage to power of Queen B. BLAME IT ON BEYONCÉ. Music is food for the soul and I’m grateful to be able to add to those recipes.”

Take a listen below:

AcE is working on his official debut project all while DJ’ing around the world. You can catch AcE in Atlantic City, New York, and Las Vegas the next couple months.

Trey “AcE” Smith is not a DJ. He is the one others depend on to get their party started with a tapestry of beats he weaves together like no one else. But don’t be confused. Trey “AcE” Smith is NOT a DJ.
What AcE is in fact, is a master artist-in-training. It doesn’t matter that he comes from a musical lineage; AcE says he will never consider himself proficient at this thing called music “because you have to keep practicing this craft.” And along those same lines, he will never consider himself simply a DJ. The title is just too limiting. Too stifling for what he has in mind. “I want to bring light to each and every person’s soul and Iwant everyone to have an amazing time.”

An amazing time is exactly what AcE is having. Whether he’s in the studio concocting the perfect musical blends of rhythms, genres, and moods, like a scientist in his lab; or if he’s working as a symphonic conductor, guiding the music with his hands and ears as he pays attention to the tastes, energy, and pace of the crowd on the dancefloor— AcE is all about letting the music take the lead and following the journey it takes him on.

And from California to Dubai, that journey has not only helped him pump up the crowd and bring electricity to his audiences across the globe; but, these experiences have helped him discover how much he truly represents the definition of, AcE, as a person who excels. “My ability to connect with people…the way I do things…I believe my style is awesome. I’m actually at a place in my life where I can say, I’m different. I’m not like everybody else,” AcE says.

While AcE will never allow himself to only be looked upon as simply a DJ, he’s the first to tell you that if you simply must refer to him by that title, do so knowing that he is determined “to be the greatest producer and DJ to ever walk this planet.” Yet and still…don’t be confused. Trey “AcE” Smith is NOT a DJ.

In case you didn’t know, the Independence Day sequel has been set in stone with some of the original cast members, including Vivica A. Fox, who also signed back on for the return of the epic 1996 film.
WESTWOOD, : The cast and director of the movie "Independence Day" (L- R): Vivica Fox, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Will Smith, Harry Connick Jr., director Roland Emmerich, and Margaret Colin pose for photographers at the premiere of their movie 25 June at the Mann Village Theatre in Westwood, Los Angeles. But, there’s one main ingredient missing and that is lead actor of the classic movie, Will Smith.
On Saturday, Smith headed over to Facebook to respond to a plethora of comments from fans. One of his replies catered to the very question of: Why are you not apart of Independence Day 2?
Will sent a real answer directly to the fan on FB saying:
I wanted to make Independence Day 2. I worked very hard with Dean & Roland (the producer & director) to find what I would do in my performance that would be new, different and exciting for the fans.
But, as an artist I’m in a very different place in my life. I’m 46 years old and I am impelled to push aggressively toward new places, new challenges and ideas. You will see in my next few films that I am taking HUGE artistic gambles. I am WAY out of my comfort zone. I want this period of my career to be the least Safe I’ve ever been.
But, it broke my heart to not return with the cast. 😦
That will definitely take a huge chuck out of the expectations of the film but hey, sometimes you have to move on. Kudos to Will!
Can the sequel survive without Will Smith’s participation? We shall see….
‘Indepence Day 2’ is set to premiere on June 24th just after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (June 2nd) of 2016.
