The Roots Drop Stella Artois Commissioned ‘Bittersweet” [New Music]

The Roots have joined forces with Stella Artois to create their latest offering titled “Bittersweet.” A cassette themed single with A-side and B-side versions the legendary band leave it up to us to decide which track is which, bitter or sweet. Listen to both renditions below.

Watch: Black Thought Spits Game of Thrones Recap On The Tonight Show

If you haven’t seen the season six premiere of Game of Thrones and won’t be able to catch it before Sunday’s new episode The Roots Black Thought provided a recap of what went down, in rhyme form of course.

Real name Tariq Trotter, Black Thought is an avowed fan of the series and on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show fulfilled Jimmy Fallon’s request to summarize the premiere in under a minute. The emcee’s rhyme did the episode justice starting with Jon Snow’s death at the end of season five, then filling us in on what went down with Theon Greyjoy and Sansa Stark’s escape, Daenerys Targaryen’s capture by the Dothraki, Aria Starks struggles with blindness, and more.

#GrammyWeekend: 10th Annual Roots Jam Session & Serato Pyro Launch with John Legend, Leon Bridges, Nelly, Tori Kelly & Many More

The 10th Annual Roots Jam Session and launch party for new iOS music player app Serato Pyro kicked off last night with a four hour jam session from The Roots and surprise performances from some of this year’s Grammy nominated artists and all-time favorites.

The Roots were first joined by 2016 Grammy nominee Kehlani for a couple of songs. John Legend then took over the stage with a piano to continue to bring down the house with The Roots. Best New Artist nominee and the most recent star to join The Voice as Adam Levine’s advisor, Tori Kelly then took the stage and performed 3 songs with her guitar. Indie artist Bilal jammed out before Jeremih jumped up to sing several of his famed hip hop songs, including “Don’t Tell Em.”

Finally, Nelly surprised the crowd and performed 3 of his classics, “E.I.,” “Ride Wit Me,” and Hot in Herre.”  Leon Bridges and Natasha Bedingfield were also in attendance.

Questlove, John Legend, Tori Kelly and more artists and industry guests took to the new iOS music player app and first consumer product from Serato, Serato Pyro, to curate a special playlist from the evening that is available now exclusively on Serato Pyro, for free download in the App Store. You can also find other exclusive playlists from DJ Jazzy Jeff, A-Trak, Diplo, Aoki, The Roots and more.

Gary Clark JR. sings about the downside of love in his new visual for “Numb” off his debut album Blak and Blu. It’s easy to see why he is drawing comparisons to the late great Jimi Hendrix with his guitar skills and voice. Gary Clark Jr. also played for President Barack Obama at the white house, opened up for The Rolling Stones, impressed music’s royal couple Beyonce and Jay-Z at the Made in America music festival and played with Alicia Keys and Maxwell for their “Fire We Make” duet. In Case You Missed It: Wale x Tiara Thomas Perform “Bad” On Jimmy Fallon

Backed by the world-famous  Roots Band, Wale performed his standout track “Bad”. The song features Tiara Thomas and first lived on Wale’s mixtape Folarin. Captiolizing off the song’s success it now serves as Wale’s lead single off his forthcoming album The Gifted slated for release in 6/25/13. The song was produced by Tiara Thomas and Kelson, looking forward to more music from Ms Thomas.
