Justine Skye Releases New EP ‘8 Ounces’ Assisted by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart

justine-skye-8-ounces

The Purple Unicorn herself, Justine Skye shows no signs of stopping! The talented Brooklyn native drops her very own EP entitled 8 Ounces. The 9-track project was written and produced by hitmaker The-Dream along with Tricky Stewart. Standout tracks: “Love Song”, “Tonight”, “Jezebel”, “Fun” feat. Wale and “Strangers” and “Agenda.”

On “Jezebel,” Justine touches on a little ex-BFF beef:

Internet thuggin
Avatar muggin
Now you got me black bagging
Got you on thought when I’m dragging, you

Jezebel, you’re the girl the guys know so well
Oh Jezebel, don’t wanna front you out but what the hell

We used to be friends
Now you all in my DM
From AM to PM
I just delete them

About The-Dream via Genius:

“The-Dream was like my diary,” she explained. “I would sit there and talk his ear off about all my guy situations; he would just turn my stories into songs.”

Now, standing tall at the age of 21, Skye was ready to get much more personal with her music giving certain scenarios of what she has been through in the love zone, meeting different people — all while growing up.

About ‘8 Ounces’:

“Eight ounces is the average weight of the female heart. Now that I’m 21, I’m meeting different people from different parts of the world and I’m figuring out myself more and figuring out guys more. This whole EP is my diary of situations that I’ve gone through since my last project.”

Take a listen to the EP HERE.

ABIR Celebrates Everyone That Are Making Things Happen With “Girls” [New Music]

https://soundcloud.com/xoabir/girls

After riding the “WAVE” with Masego on her debut release earlier this year, ABIR is back at it again with, “GIRLS,” which was premiered via Billboard.

Never one to bite her tongue, the 21-year-old Moroccan-born singer/songwriter sips tea and throws shade towards all the catty girls and BS boys that she’s crossed paths with. However, ABIR insists that “this record isn’t about being bitter or hating on anyone – it’s actually a celebration and an anthem for all the young girls and boys making sh*t happen!”

ABIR doubled down on that notion by enlisting a dozen of NYC’s most influential young girls for a one-of-a-kind social media campaign on Instagram, featuring London Zhiloh, Minahil Ayazm, and seemingly every “IT” girl of Summer 16. Having already shared the stage this year with The-Dream, DAWN, Elhae and many others, expect ABIR to keep the shows coming.

Check out the track above.

SFPL Artist Spotlight: Sabatahj – “Old Skoo”

sabatahj

Sabatahj is a super talented artist out of Indiana (he grew up right across the bridge from Bryson Tiller‘s home of Louisville, Kentucky), who kind of exudes the sensual and melodic sensibilities of The Dream.

Midwestern newcomer Sabatahj is the heir to an age-old tradition. With a vast imagination, the young adept multi-instrumentalist, producer, rapper, singer, and songwriter has retooled smooth 90s RnB with 80s funk grooves in his latest single, “Old Skoo.”

With Roger Troutman-inspired talk-box melodies and sensual southern finesse, the song is a slow ride, retro-futuristic tale about a man trying to convince his lady friend into taking a joyride. “Old Skoo” follows the success of Sabatahj’s 2013 cult-championed Guilty Pleasures mixtape.
