Salaam Remi’s label, Louder Than Life, announces a new music platform Do It For The Culture. The platform will release 50 songs every few months over the next few years. The current release features music from NO PANTY (Nitty Scott, Bodega Bamz, Joell Ortiz), The Champagne Flutes, Sex All Summer, Miraa May, Elle Varner, Mack Wilds, Miguel, and BJ The Chicago Kid.
NO PANTY consists of Bamz, Nitty and Joell who came together to do a New York style hip hop project with a Latin twist. Champagne Flutes is a collaboration with the UK’ vocalist Terri Walker. She inspired a lot of Remi’s work over the last few years, from using orchestras in Prague along with Cuban musicians in Miami to create a blend of Sunday “chill out” music, which is one of his biggest inspirations. Sex ALL Summer consists of Salaam and a young vocalist from Baltimore. This project is “chillout cuffin season” music which is inspired by Marvin Gaye, the Isley Brothers and many soul classics but still at the same time living in our generation. Miraa May is a young Algerian-born London raised singer-songwriter from Tottenham North London. Her debut EP, N15, produced by Salaam and James Poyser is something to be reckoned with. Signed through Salaam’s publishing joint venture with Peer Music, Salaam has been developing Miraa for the last year and a half.
Louder Than life is not only dedicated to developing and finding emerging talent, but also partnering with forward thinking brands and relying on the street and people to help find different forms of talent.
“I have a sweet spot for singer songwriters and for people who make music that is outside of the norm,” says Salaam, “I will continue to provide that option for artists out there so people don’t feel as if they are required to fit the mold of today’s pop trends. I look forward to giving more artists a shot at doing what they do best not just for myself, but for the culture.”
Salaam is dedicated to artist development and making sure his artists feel special in their own right. Salaam most notably worked with Nas, Amy Winehouse, Fergie, Estelle, Miguel, Alicia Keys and he is responsible for creating and executive producing The Fugees. His records have well surpassed 1 billion streams worldwide.
Salaam also said:
“I get excited by the reaction that we got from people, which is why I decided to put out more music – for the culture.”
