While Black Fathers tend to wrestle with a plethora of negative stereotypes or not so positive connotations, Chaz French sheds a bright light on what could be one of the most heartfelt visuals and freestyle of the year. Father of two and budding rap talent, French debuts his new video “Miss You (Freestyle).”

Chaz told The Fader:

“It’s been longer than my fans or I would have liked for me to give them new songs and visuals. I just wanted to take this time to let them know, that I missed them during this time apart. At the same time, through this process of chasing the vision, my time with my children has also become limited. Had to do some soul searching to find the balance between Chaz the Dad and the rapper. Struggle what made us!”

The song, which samples Teddy Pendergrass’s classic record “I Miss You,” is soulful yet raw furthermore defining the sound that Chaz French has perfected and claimed as his own. The track was produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer $K (Future, Trey Songz) and DJ Cruz.

Chaz also recently sealed a deal over at Motown/Capitol and is gearing up to join Wale for the northeast leg of The Shine Tour making stops in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston. Tickets can be purchased HERE. Ahead of the tour, he will be performing at Broccoli City Festival this weekend and Rolling Loud Festival (May 7).
