Today on our ‘Artist Spotlight,’ rising UK R&B singer/songwriter Angel recently released his debut EP Her. To support the special project, the talented artist also premiered the visual for “Fvxk With You” featuring Rich Homie Quan, which is the official single.

In the video, Angel makes his way over to the southern streets of ATL as he and Quan link up for a local block party.

Check it out above. ‘

The EP is a pre-cursor to a debut album due next year on Motown/Capitol in the US. He’s worked with the likes of Swizz Beatz (who is a mentor of his), Ed Sheeran, Jeremih, Jason Derulo, Dizzee Rascal, Stormzy, and more, and has recently been in the studio with the likes of Kehlani, Prince Charlez (worked on Rihanna’s Anti), and Pop and Oak (Nicki Minaj).

He’s also penned songs for UK staples like Pixie Lott and Cheryl Cole (of Girls Aloud), and wrote the UK #1 single, “Green Light” by grime music collective Roll Deep. Angel got his start singing at home, growing up in West London. His father is Tenadi Charles, a popular figure in the UK reggae scene, who’s played with Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Kaya and more.

Angel (real name Sirach Charles) formed a band with his siblings growing up, The Charles Family and ended up touring across the UK, before starting to make a name for himself in the studio. He released his solo debut single in 2012, which reached the top 10 of the UK charts. Already a festival mainstay in Europe, with ‘HER’ and his upcoming debut, he is shaping up to become a household name across both sides of the atlantic.

Watch: MTV Teams Up with Director Anthony Mandler for the ‘Canvas’ Promo Reveal In Honor of The VMAs [Video]

Screen Shot 2016-08-09 at 4.50.26 PM

Today MTV unveiled the first promo, Canvas, to launch the creative campaign for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. The spot pays homage to the ‘VMAs’ at Madison Square Garden for the first time in its history, offering an awe-inspiring black and white portrait of the world’s most famous arena as a gift; a blank canvas on which each performer will express unparalleled artistry and vision.

Anthony Mandler, one of today’s top commercial and video music directors, directed ‘Canvas.’ He has helmed over 15 of Rihanna’s music videos and directed videos for Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Drake, Eminem, Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake, to name a few. The theme song of the campaign, “Do Your Thing” by Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, serves as the featured music in the spot with Swizz Beatz lending his powerful voice to the spot.

As MTV locks in performers for the show (all still to be announced), each performer will select a signature Pantone color and message, and MTV will commission a visual artist or filmmaker to bring their words and vision to life via a 30-second content piece. This content will then be incorporated into the larger campaign. With each artist, a new color and creative piece will be added to the VMAs palette, filling in this blank canvas and advising the scheme for entire campaign (and ultimately the show). The result will be a campaign that’s highly personal, artist driven and reflective of this year’s main show look and feel. Additional works of art will be released throughout the campaign that feature each performing talent’s own words as to why the VMA stage is one of the greatest opus of which they dream.
