Last Night in NYC: Kelly Rowland, Frank Gatson Jr., Stephen G Hill & More Attend Chasing Destiny Premiere Party


Last Night in NYC, in the heart of NYC’s famous Meat Packing District, brown bombshell Kelly Rowland,famed choreographer/director Frank Gatson Jr., and BET President of Music Programming Stephen G Hill celebrated the upcoming premiere of Kelly and Frank’s new docu-series Chasing Destiny.

Kelly looked relaxed and comfortable in a floral top paired with black ripped jeans from Frame Denim as she was out in these NYC streets promoting the show. Guests enjoyed a full open bar and delicious hors d’oeuvres while dancing the night away and flicking it up at the photo-booth.

Notable guest in attendance BET Next In Class winner, our very own FLY Guy Rae Holliday, Fly Guy Gabriel Willams, beauty and lifestyle writer Ty Alexander,5x Emmy nominated TV Host  Kela Walker, and recording artist Luvaboy TJ.

Kelly and Frank shared a small preview of the show which premieres tonight after Black Girls Rock on BET. From what we saw we will definitely be in for an entertaining ride as the two search for amazing talent to assemble the next best girl group.

If Stacey Dash thought she was going to get away, unscathed from her ridiculous comments she was sadly mistaken. The internet plays no games when you say something that’s just outright stupid. The clueless actress and yes the pun is indeed intended, spoke on Jada Pinkett-Smith and Spike Lee’s decision to skip The Oscars due to the outrage of the awards show lack of diversity. What really ruffled everyone’s feathers was when Dash said that Black History Month, BET and The Image Awards are forms of segregation.

Team SFPL was on the scene in Jungle City Studios in NYC to preview Nelly’s new album ‘M.O.’.  This album is Nelly’s 7th studio album in his storied musical career. The St. Louis native has come a long way since the release of his debut album “Country Grammar”  in 2000. The album features production from heavyweights in the game such as Pharrell, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Mike Will Made-It, Detail, Da Internz and DJ Frank-E. ‘M.O.’ is not short on the features as Nelly enlists the help of Future, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell, T.I., 2Chainz, Trey Songz, Fabolous, Nelly Furtado, Wiz Khalifa, Yo Gotti and more. Notable attendees on hand to listen to Nelly’s new album were Stephen Hill (President of Music Programming and Specials) and Kevin Liles he currently has Nelly as one of his clients.

Grammy winning singer/songwriter Ne-Yo and his charity, The Compound Foundation, held the 2nd Annual “Fostering a Legacy Benefit” this past Saturday in East Hampton hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, sponsored by Malibu Red, Porsche, Empire CLS and Liberty Helicopters.

This Weekend in NYC: The 135th Agency’s 4th Annual BBQ in Harlem…

It was Hell up in Harlem as the 135th Street Agency put on their 5th Anniversary BBQ/Fish Fry celebration. The Event was held at El Patio of Talay Lounge in Harlem. Hosted by by radio/tv personality FREE and VIBE’s new editorial director Datwon Thomas, the 4th annual BBQ was attended by a plethora of media, industry tastemakers artists and notables including Miguel, Sheek Louch, Necole Bitchie, Briana Bingham, Jacque Reid, Chris Classic, Bevy Smith, Jamal “Gravy” Woodard, Cherry Martinez (Power 105), actor Stephen Hill, Serius Jones, Amanda Diva, Mysonne and more.

Many of our Blogging/Media counterparts were in the building including; LowKey (You heard That new?), Xilla ( Global Grind), Monee Perry (Roc4Life), Devon Christopher (Bleu Magazine/, The Fly Girl ( Fly Style Life), Chris Law (Fresher Than Chris), DJ Laser, Kitty Bradshaw , John Simon, and Eb the Celeb.

The Event as a whole was Dope, Good Music, Good Food, Hennessy Black sponsored some great drinks, not to mention Golden Crust, Heineken, Frit-o-Lay and a few other sponsors who aided in making the Event memorable.
