Fly Introduction: Chris Brown and Usher Praises New Dance Duo AYO & TEO

unnamed-6

Hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, brothers Ayleo and Mateo Bowles (a.k.a. AYO and TEO) have been dancing and competing at dance since elementary school. Influenced by greats such as Michael Jackson, Usher, Missy Elliot and Chris Brown, the duo quickly developed their own unique brand of dancing and began to upload Youtube videos from their basement and living room.

With zero promotion, and strictly through the power of social media, they began to gain mass appeal by creating and having their “dance challenges” reposted to some of Instagram‘s most popular dance pages. Recognizing this as their main outlet, the younger of the brothers (Teo) created what has become a instant phenomenon and their moniker – “THE REVERSE”. Simply reversing the steps to some of world’s best dance crazes, their Reverse of the “Nae Nae” went viral overnight, on every posted outlet, and received over 150 MILLION VIEWS.

Kicked off by with a number of pics and vids reposted by Chris Brown, the two are now rubbing elbows and sharing stages with the very people that influenced them the most.

Most recently being invited and flown out to perform by Usher himself, the boys shared the 2016 BET Awards stage with the R&B phenom.

On the map as rising stars, with no place to go but up, be on the lookout for AYO & TEO. They’re NEXT.

Twitter Will Be Parting Ways With VINE

chuckfallingasleepredux

Vine will no longer be apart of our Twitter lives…but are we concered? Probably not.

Today, Twitter has announced that it is closing its video sharing doors with the four year old Vine service. As the company did not give a reason why they were slashing the service, on Thursday they announced it was cutting 9% of its workforce following slow growth of the social network.

573

Vine reports via the company’s blog:

Today, we are sharing the news that in the coming months we’ll be discontinuing the mobile app.

Nothing is happening to the apps, website or your Vines today. We value you, your Vines, and are going to do this the right way. You’ll be able to access and download your Vines. We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made. You will be notified before we make any changes to the app or website.

What’s next? We’ll be working closely with creators to make sure your questions are answered and will work hard to do this the right way. We’ll be sharing more details on this blog and our Twitter account, and will notify you through the app when we start to change things.

At this point, it’s quite clear that Vine didn’t keep up with the evolving changes especially via Snapchat and IG’s Instagram Stories, plus the 20-second video that you can just simply add to Twitter itself.

Can we say…R.I.P. Vine? Pretty much.

To keep up with any more changes via Vine, stay connected to their official blog for more info.

Benny Cassette’s “Entertain Us” Visual Makes Brilliant Use of SnapChat [New Video]

Benny Cassette has released a lyric video for his catchy, critically-praised song, “Entertain Us,” which playfully explores the conflicting parts of our social media-driven culture.

We all know at least one person who uses social media to create a boastful façade, and the memorable hook on “Entertain Us” captures what we all want to tell those people sometimes — “F**k yo’ Twitter, F**k yo’ SnapChat, F**k yo’ Instagram!” The song conveys a powerful message about authenticity and social-media-induced anxiety while still being playful. The featured track is positioned to be one of the hottest songs of the summer and has already amassed 950K plays on Spotify.

The lyric video ironically consists of people from various walks of life singing along to the song…all from video made using SnapChat. It is a fun reflection of the love/hate relationship so many of us have with social media and the virtual insanity that is part of the world we live in.

Just 4 days after the “Entertain Us” video dropped, Perez Hilton shared the song on his site, praising it as a project that, “instantly won our love and praise.”

T-Pain takes a look at selfie culture with his brand new track “Look at Me.”

Pain says:

Selfies can be pretty sexy but this song is about those irritating ass selfie videos that girls do where they just stare at the camera not saying anything.

T-Pain gave a lucky sold out audience first listen last night as he performed it for the first time ever at his headlining Converse Rubber Tracks concert at Brooklyn, NY’s Music Hall of Williamsburg

Fly News: Pope Francis Ready To Post His First Selfie, To Make Instagram Debut

The Pope will soon be posting selfies of his own as he is set to join Instagram this week.

Pope Francis is no stranger to the digital world having in the past used new-age means of communications to share his views on a range of topics including climate change and gay marriage. The prefect for Communications, Monsignor Dario Viganò made the announcement on Vatican Radio.

The Pope will use the Instagram handle @Franciscus and will make his debut on the social media platform on March 19th. While Pope Francis has admitted to not being the most technologically savvy, he’s acknowledged the vital role technology plays in everyones lives, and in the past has referred to the Internet as “a gift from God.”

This announcement follows a meeting between Instagram CEO and co-founder Kevin Systrom and Pope Francis at the Vatican last month. Systrom met with The Pope to discuss the power of images and their ability to “unite people across borders, cultures and generations.” Systrom brought with him a curated book of 10 images that included photos from the earthquake in Nepal, the exodus of refugees from the Middle East, from inside North Korea, and of last year’s Baltimore protests.

It looks like The Pope might agree with Instagram and the importance of images. Be on the look out for Pope Francis’s first official selfie this weekend!

Fly Interview: August Alsina Talks New Music, Love/Hate with Social Media, His Beloved Brother, Usher, 2 Chainz & more with SFPL TV

august-alsina-sfpl-tv
In the midst of prepping for his forthcoming album release of This Thing Called Life and his current single “Song Cry”, which is taking over the radio waves and charts, singer/songwriter August Alsina stopped by SFPL TV to catch us up on a few about his music, how he really feels about social media, touring with Usher, 2 Chainz being the first to put him on tour, his brother, personal happenings in his life, and so much more.

About his new album #TTCL:

It’s really, man…”My Journey.” Life has taken me places. I mean, up, down, all around…just taking me places. The good, the bad, i’ve been through it — i’ve dealt with it all. We born, we got put here, we don’t really know what this is all about. We’re all just here trying to figure it out — trying to be a better version of ourselves each and every day. And that’s what my album is, it’s about the Journey. Me trying to figure out “This Thing Called Life.”

What would a conversation with his deceased brother be like today if he were alive:

Ahhhhh…it would probably be very stupid [he says jokily, as he laughs with a huge smile]. You know, my brother always believed in me. Like ALWAYS. To the point where he used to lie to people actually like: “Yeah, my brother got a deal, wu wuu wuuu” — before I even had a deal. He use to just tell people: “Yeah, my brother got a deal, he doing this, and he doing that.” So, I think the conversation would be: “I proud of you n****, like this is dope what you doing.” You know, I think it would be an “I always knew” kind of conversation. I mean, he knew and believed in me before I did; believe in myself.

This Thing Called Life drops on Dec. 11th.
