Reebok Classic x Kendrick Lamar Release Club C Capsule

Today, Reebok Classic and music icon Kendrick Lamar continue to evolve their creative partnerships with the launch of the Reebok Classic x Kendrick Lamar Club C Capsule. For his first iteration of the historic Club C sneaker, Kendrick draws on his experiences from both past and present to add his unique style and message to the legacy of the classic tennis shoe.

Taking direct inspiration from his latest album, the sneaker’s aesthetic focuses on the themes of anonymity and abstraction while also calling for unity. Inspired by his ability to invoke conversation around race and social injustice, the Club C forces people to think deeper and celebrates Kendrick’s ability to create art with meaning in a stylish, provocative manner.

Commenting on the design, Kendrick said:

“Now more than ever it is important for individuals to come together as one. This sneaker represents that call for unity and equality, while also pushing people to look beneath the surface and uncover the hidden messages. This is something I try to do with my music, and now here with the Club C.”

The shoe will be available in adult unisex and children’s sizes at Footaction, Sneaker Villa, Shiekh Shoes, Jimmy Jazz, Shoe Palace and Reebok.com worldwide starting January 13th for $109.99 in adult sizing, $70 for kid’s styles, and $50 in toddler sizes.

Allen Iverson’s Family Featured In Reebok Question Mid x Melody Ehsani Ad

The Reebok Question Mid x Melody Ehsani is not just about Allen Iverson – it celebrates the strong women who have supported him throughout his career.

The most important women in Allen’s life – his daughters Tiaura, Messiah and Dream, and their mother Tawanna – were featured in an exclusive campaign to support the launch of this women’s version of the iconic Question Mid sneaker.  Creative directed by Melody herself and shot by Allen’s long time photographer Gary Land in Charlotte, NC, the campaign features an all over monotone aesthetic to go with the design of the shoe.

“Aside from being one of the greatest players, Iverson to me more so was a cultural leader and game changer, so I made sure to embody some of those elements into the shoe,” says designer Melody Eshani.

The Reebok Question Mid x Melody Ehsani uses three different types of color-matched leather to make up the upper, quarter and heel in order to create dimension on the tonal design.  The tongue has a replica emboss of Allen’s “Hold My Own” tattoo.  On the back heel, there is a Velcro spot that allows you to switch out different leather patch designs of 3 of his other tattoos.  The interior lining features an image of Allen’s cornrows, and the sock liner is a paisley print representing his iconic bandana.  The upper has a black patent toe box, the sole remains ice blue as a nod to the original Question, and there are two lace options – one in tonal vegetable tan, and another in black and vegetable tan bungee inspired lace.

Following the success of this summer’s red & blue capsule, Reebok Classic and Kendrick Lamar drop the final installment in the inspirational ‘Red and Blue’ collection.

After dominating this year’s music award show season and dropping his third major label studio album to critical acclaim, Kendrick returns with the Classic Leather Lux. A timeless yet distinctive design, the sneaker is executed in olive green premium leather, representing the Compton saying that “mixing Red and Blue makes Green’; when we come together united we can inspire and encourage growth. The eye-catching green combined with embossed accents of red and blue text on the heel tabs, to symbolize the existing divide between gangs and to emphasize Kendrick’s message of a call for neutrality. A retro gum sole provides an interesting contrast to the muted green upper, and the starcrest tongue branding completes the look in Classic style.

Speaking to the collaboration, Kendrick Lamar said:

“Similar to my collaborations with Reebok in the past, I want to create products that provide fans with larger meanings and messages – particularly ones that inspire unity and growth within communities and youth. Fabolous Talks His Favorite Sneakers And Why Now You Are Paying For The Hype In Footwear News

Of course, we all love a good sneaker…well, a few of them! And so does Brooklyn native and veteran rapper Fabolous. In the latest issue of Footwear News Magazine, the famed talent talks about his sneaker collection, what’s wrong with the “sneaker culture” now, his personal style, the “re-popping” of sneakers and much more.

What bothers you the most about the sneakerhead world today?

The re-popping, it’s out of control. It changes the experience for the regular consumer. It used to be track down the shoe, purchase it at box price and put it on. Kids are now working three weeks to a month to get a shoe that shouldn’t be that [elevated] in cost. It’s Jordans, Yeezys — anything that’s popular. Even Adidas Originals NMDs are starting to get that chase. I don’t know the solution; just give kids the chance to buy the shoes. When Kanye West first put his shoes out, he said he [wanted] everybody to have a chance to have quality. But when they came, it was the same re-pops, same markups, and Adidas didn’t do anything about it. It’s fun for the hype when you’ve got to pay $2,000 for a $200 sneaker, but [it’s hurting] the average consumer.

Who is the leader in the sneakerhead world?

I think there’s a best in different categories now. There’s always classics — they get their just due and respect. There’s a new wave of [Nike] Flyknits, I like them, they’re very comfortable. My mom was never a big sneaker person because she didn’t like how heavy sneakers were. You know how 1990s sneakers, they were all heavy? My mom wasn’t with it, so now I’m about to introduce my mom to Flyknits and stuff, see if she could hang — these are the kind of shoes she would like. She would buy cheap shoes because they were cheaply made but light — she liked light shoes on her feet, she didn’t like a heavy bulky shoe.

Are there any designers or labels you’re particularly fond of?

I grew up in the 1990s, so I like a lot of the styles that were going on then. The design of the shoes, to me, was truly ahead of their time — a lot of the classic Jordans and a lot of the retro stuff that’s coming back now is really all from that time period. Some of them were slept on — they were worn by living legends of the time or connected to people who were bigger-than-life stars, and they’ve moved on and new stars have appeared, but those shoes still have a connection with people. I like that ’90s era of style and swag.

FLY-CAP: Reebok and Future VIP Gifting Lounge in ATL

On Thursday, August 25th, Reebok Classic took over the legendary Means Street Studios in NW Atlanta for a Reebok VIP Gifting Lounge in advance of Future’s summer tour appearance last night.

Reebok Classic’s exclusive seeding lounge was a celebration of Future’s homecoming and the first event after the announcement in July when both parties announced their long-term, creative partnership.  Atlanta’s storied roots in culture, music and style provided the perfect backdrop for the tastemaker event.

Some of Atlanta’s most trend-setting VIPs like Big Boi, NFL player Deon Grant, MTV star DJ Young Fly, Offset from Migos, TI’s kids Messiah and Domani Harris, and more were laced up in key Reebok product in advance of Future’s concert that night, as they enjoyed cocktails and mingled with their fellow Atlantans to the tunes of DJ Don Cannon.

Guests had a unique opportunity to preview unreleased Reebok x Freebandz apparel that Future is sporting on tourand footwear including the Instapump Fury OverbrandedFurylite JF and the Furyadapt OG.  The product curation reflected both Future’s pioneering and elevated style mixed with Reebok’s design prowess, and served as a preview of what’s to come from the Reebok x Future relationship this Fall and into 2017.

Key products showcased at the lounge will be available for purchase beginning September 2016 at Reebok.com and retailers across the United States.
