Radio Icon and multimedia personality Angie Martinez will release her first memoir, entitled MY VOICE this coming May through Celebra, an imprint of Penguin Random House. For the first time, Angie will detail her story, which includes an empowering account of her climb to become a multimedia icon in the world of entertainment universally known as “The Voice of New York.”
In ‘MY VOICE’ Angie shares her personal recollections. From her roots in Washington Heights to her formative years being raised by a single mom in Brooklyn, she quickly found her calling while answering phones at Hot 97 as a teenager. After getting her first shot behind the mic at Hot 97, she burst on the scene as a young female jock whose on-air “Battle of the Beats” not only broke records but also became a proving ground for emerging artists like a young JAY Z, she quickly became known for intimate conversations with artists such as her interview with the late Tupac Shakur in Los Angeles. His last no-holds-barred interview has never been discussed in detail– until now.
Angie Martinez also reveals the reason behind her highly publicized departure from Hot 97 to her current home at Power 105.1, where she is host of her consistently rated #1 iHeartRadio afternoon show The Angie Martinez Show. She discloses intimate details behind some of her most notable and compelling interviews, whether it’s mediating feuds between artists or delving into the most controversial issues in hip-hop and pop culture. Her on-air talks range from conversations with key political figures including President Barack Obama to major music icons and movie stars.
