Our Condolences: #RIPBigAng, ‘Mob Wives’ Star Loses Cancer Battle

Big Ang

Mob Wives star Angela “Big Ang” Raiola has passed away. The reality star was recently diagnosed with both lung and brain cancer following her initial throat cancer diagnosis for which she underwent surgery for last year.

The world learned of Big Ang’s passing via a statement released on her Twitter account.

“It is with sad regret that we inform you that at 3:01 a.m. Angelia Raiola peacefully ended her battle with cancer, and was called home. She was surrounded by nothing but love from her immediate family, and the closest friends. YOU, (her fans) were some of the most special people in the world, and she loved you immensely. Thank you for your love, prayers, and unconditional support of Angela right to the very end.”

The news comes two days after her emotional interview aired on Dr. Oz. When asked what kept her going through her battle with the disease she cited her family as her motivation.”I look at my kids and my grandchildren and I know how much they need me,” she told Oz. Big Ang also revealed having been declared cancer-free twice, only to learn that the cancer had returned and spread to other areas of her body.

Big Ang had been a cigarette smoker for 40 years, a fact doctors attributed as the cause of her illness. Following her diagnosis the reality star quit, and urged her fans to quit smoking and to never pick up the habit.

Big Ang will always be remembered for her infectious personality and caring spirit. We send our condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time.

New Music: French Montana feat. Chinx & N.O.R.E. – “Off The Rip”

french montana off the rip

Still deeply missed, French Montana pays homage to the late Queens rapper and friend, Chinx who was killed in a drive-by shooting just last month in May. The new visual “Off The Rip” also features veteran lyricist N.O.R.E. adding a few rap bars, while paying his respects as well.

Just off the heels of the 2015 BET Awards, Montana graced the stage with Puffy Daddy & The Family for the ultimate reunion performance. During the Bad Boy set, the Coke Boy honcho saluted Brooklyn’s Bobby Shmurda, performing his hit song “Hot N***a.”

Twitter immediately went into an uproar, as to why he was on stage with the legendary Bad Boy cohorts. But, all in all, he did a good job spitting just a few lines from the populated hit song.

#RIPSTUARTSCOTT: President Obama, Colleagues,Celebs and Athletes Mourn The Passing of Stuart Scott

stuartscott-1363750323

The sports and entertainment world stood still when news broke of the passing of long time ESPN analyst Stuart Scott at the young age of 49 Sunday morning. Scott was diagnosed with Cancer in 2007 and his recurring bouts with the disease was no secret. The disease never seemed to slow him down though, still working on Sportscenter, taking MMA classes letting the disease know it will never beat him. Stuart Scott first made his ESPN debut helping them launch ESPN 2 in 2003, they immediately knew they had something special in Scott. His ability to flawlessly infuse his catchy phrases into his analysis of sports is what made him so popular among the young crowd. Folks stayed up late just to catch him on Sportscenter so they could hear his famous phrases “Boo-Yah!”, “As cooler than the other side of the pillow” and “He must be the bus driver because he was taken’ him to school”.  Stuart touched lives inside and outside of sports, and served as inspiration for future journalists. He saved his best quote for last in his acceptance speech when he accepted the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at The ESPYS on July’ 16,2014.

The 2014 ESPYS - Show

When you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live. “So live. Live. Fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight, lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you.

Here’s video of the full speech:

We here at The SFPL send our heartfelt condolences to the Scott family and his closest friends. He was a true inspiration to all, he will definitely be missed. Stuart Scott is survived by his daughters Taelor and Sydni and his girlfriend Kristin Spodobalski.
