SFPL Premiere: Doughboy – “Way Up” [New Video]

[ione_embed src=https://www.youtube.com/embed/n6hHeZ9glII service=youtube width=640 height=360 type=iframe]

Doughboy has been making a lot of noise since 2016 with his debut of his much-anticipated mixtape release Sakrifices which featured artists like Caskey of YMCMB and Lucci. Later that year, he followed up with his second installment Sak2.5 which made a big impact on the music scene with over 1 million downloads and a plethora of visuals like “Poppin” featuring Rich The Kid which charted high on Worldstarhiphop and “No Thots” which premiered on The Fader and went on to BET Jams .

Recently Doughboy released a statement saying “April & May new music. June I’m dropping my EP”. With no specific date or title, the budding rapper encourages fans to be on the look out for his new project. But holding his word to fans, Doughboy release what we think is the first visual to his new project titled “Way Up” shot by VickMontFilms.

Doughboy talks about his struggle from being broke in life to being able to provide for himself and his family.

When asked about the meaning behind the record Doughboy said:

“The record is really a positive record. I made the record at a time when I was finally getting back to being my self. Weeks or even days before I wrote the record I was flat broke! Like had no money to even buy food type broke. And at that time, I knew I had to get up and get it. I’m not rich at the moment, but definitely not at the point I was at before. Now, I feel way up.”

Doughboy ft. Rich The Kid – “Poppin” [New Video]

After bubbling heavily in the midwest in the past year, St. Louis native Doughboy scored a major breakthrough earlier this year with his lead single “No Thots.” The cut, which was premiered by The Fader, led him to being embraced by all major web platforms, Genius, Spotify as well as broadcast television.

Garnering a large following, Doughboy has not rested on his laurels, releasing his very well received mixtape Sakrifices 2.5. 17-tracks deep and officially available on SoundCloud, the project is light on guest appearances as only Rich The Kidd, ChaseTheMoney and Man Man Savage contribute. Now, the MC takes things another step further by releasing the visual for “Who’s Poppin” featuring Atlanta mainstay Rich The Kidd.
