In Fashion: Jay Versace, Frankie Collective, and More! Reebok Launches 90s Inspired Campaign + Capsule Collection Giveaway

In 1993, Reebok launched the Aztrek: an off-road runner that perfectly represented the wildly original and experimental designs of the time. Relaunched 25 years later, the Aztrek’s super-futuristic layers and chunky design embrace the heart of 1990s sneaker style. To celebrate the Aztrek’s return and honor the spirit of the ‘90s-era style it embodies, Reebok has launched a campaign featuring six ‘90s-raised tastemakers for a content series titled “Aztrek: 90s Re-Run.”

Featuring the likes of social media sensation Jay Versace, vintage streetwear re-worker Sara Gourlay of Frankie Collective, cult vintage shop owner Kirk Tilton of For All to Envy and more, the campaign was shot on a variety of mediums that champion the Aztrek’s past and celebrate it within the context of contemporary culture and style.

Each partner was shot in rare vintage ‘90s Reebok gear that they personally curated or custom created – resulting in five unique “one-of-one” capsule collections, all of which will be available for anyone to enter to win on Reebok.com starting today. Sourced from their own personal wardrobes, along with hours of vintage shopping, each collection nods to the singular style of the 1990s, as well as the Aztrek’s distinctive design elements and colorways.

Shot on film as an homage to ‘90s visual culture, the campaign imagery and videos span five truly epic off-road locations, illustrating the sneaker’s evolution from an off-path performance shoe to symbol for ‘90s-inspired style. From the pristine beauty of upstate New York’s national parks, to the enigmatic Joshua Tree and Death Valley desert landscapes and Utah’s breathtaking slot canyons, the campaign showcases the Aztrek’s new Fall/Winter colorways against unique off-road environments and vibrant landscapes.

Check out the visual campaign above.

Alongside the relaunched Aztrek, all individual partner capsule collections will be available to win via a giveaway on Reebok.com – a platform for individuals to recreate their own ‘90s-inspired style. To enter to win, the rules are:

  1. Be a U.S. resident
  2. Sign up to win at https://www.reebok.com/us/90s_rerun

We Like: Shaquille O’Neal in the new Shaq Attaq Modern’s

The original Reebok Shaq Attaq sneaker was born in 1992 and was Shaquille O’Neal’s signature shoe when the backboard-shattering player dominated the court with his singular prowess and skill.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Shaq Attaq this year, Reebok is introducing a twist on the original, called the Shaq Attaq Modern.

The Shaq Attaq Modern was designed to be closer to the current trend of contemporary basketball sneakers. The leather is replaced with a woven mesh upper, which helps to reduce the overall weight of the shoe while keeping the structure of the original in place. The collar features a foam compound with net mesh overlay to provide padding around the ankles, along with custom Pump technology for an adjustable fit. Minimal stitching gives way to hot melt throughout while also providing dimension through the use of technical lightweight synthetics on the upper.

Featured in an allover yellow spark color with sublimated black stripe down the middle, the Shaq Attaq Modern colorway was inspired by one of Shaq’s many nicknames.

Shaq visited Reebok Headquarters in Canton, MA recently to test out the shoes on the court via a pick-up basketball game, which you can check out in the images attached.

The Shaq Attaq Modern is now available for $159.99 and is now available at Reebok.com, Finish Line and additional Reebok retailers starting, Friday, May 19th.

Reebok to launch the Reebok Classic ZOKU RUNNER x Freebandz

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Reebok Classic will launch the latest evolution of the ZOKU RUNNER through the launch of the Reebok Classic ZOKU RUNNER x Freebandz, representing the first collaboration for this new sneaker style.

Reebok Classic’s new contemporary silhouette, the ZOKU RUNNER first debuted on March 2 in London with a performance from Future at the famed Village Underground. The sneaker features the brand new ULTRAKNIT technology from Reebok, a method of knitting fused yarn to create a flexible and breathable sock-like upper that retains its shape while reducing material waste. The runner also features DMX Foam technology, a cushioning compound that dramatically reduces weight where it matters.

The Reebok Classic ZOKU RUNNER x Freebandz sneaker was designed with help from Future and the team on his Freebandz label. The sneaker features a two-tone black & white ULTRAKNIT upper with matching laces, reflective heel cage overlays embossed with ‘Reebok’ on the left shoe and ‘Freebandz’ on the right one, and a black & white marbled outsole with a glossy white midsole. Completing the design are Freebandz branding details on the sockliner, heel webbing, and collar.

Speaking to his natural synergies with Reebok Classic’s latest design, Future commented: “The ZOKU RUNNER is about evolution, moving forwards…that’s what I look to do creatively.”

The sneaker retails for $115 USD / 129€, available at www.reebok.com/us/zoku_runner and select retailers worldwide on Friday, March 17th.

We Like: Reebok Introduces New Pump Supreme Jacquard Tape

Introducing the new Reebok Pump Supreme Jacquard Tape, the last unisex iteration of the Reebok Pump Supreme, where contemporary running meets high-end style.

Originally introduced in partnership with Vetements, the silhouette is quickly gaining attention in fashion circles for its clean look and innovative style that features a forward-thinking slip-on upper and iconic Reebok Pump technology.  The latest iteration – the Pump Supreme Jacquard Tape – gives a nod to the past while remaining firmly planted in the present.

Referencing details from Reebok’s signature piece from the 90’s, the tracksuit, the “Jacquard Tape” pack features Reebok-branded tape down the middle of the silhouette, combined with tracksuit inspired mesh.

Reebok’s distinguished Pump technology is exposed on the tongue, adjusting the shape of the upper to deliver a customized fit. The reengineered fit sleeve brings the Pump technology closer to foot, enhancing the feel.

The Pump Supreme Jacquard Tape is available now in unisex sizing for $180 on Reebok.com.

We Like: Reebok Classic to launch the new ZOKU RUNNER sneaker

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Taking inspiration from Reebok Classic’s 70s, 80s and 90s designs, the ZOKU RUNNER fuses the brand’s rich heritage with advanced design and directional style. Paying homage to the ZOKU’s Japanese translation – to be continued or to be part of a tribe – the Zoku Runner is a direct descendant of the original Classic, celebrating the brand’s Vector through a modernized and updated silhouette.

A product of evolution, the runner weaves Reebok’s past into its future, with the brand’s synonymous crosscheck at its core. Created by Reebok’s founders in 1980, the crosscheck brandmark was inspired by a flock of birds and symbolizes momentum and movement, reflecting the idea of continuous evolution. The sneaker reinterprets the symbol in a molded TPU cage for a modern look, playing with translucency and prints to show the versatility of this iconic design. Crafted out of Reebok’s newest upper and most superior digital knitting technology, ULTRAKNIT, the Zoku Runner allows a sock-like feel and a fashionable look, as its breathability and ultra-light feel delivers extreme comfort while reducing material waste.

The sleek, streamlined Zoku Runner is available for both men and women, executed in a series of seven understated, versatile colorways on Reebok.com and select retailers worldwide for $115 starting March 2, 2017.

New Brand Ambassador Teyana Taylor Gets Physical In Reebok Freestyle Campaign

teyana taylor

Today, Reebok proudly announces the newest member of the sneaker family with the appointment of R&B artist, dancer, actress and famed sneakerhead Teyana Taylor, as an official brand ambassador. Taylor will join Reebok’s like-minded collective of innovative and inspirational creators, including the likes of Future, Gigi Hadid, and Top Dawg Entertainment Recording Artist Kendrick Lamar.

Taylor will spearhead the re-release of the Reebok Classic Freestyle Hi, the first fitness sneaker that was specifically designed for women. First introduced in 1982, the Freestyle Hi was a groundbreaking silhouette that embodied then exactly what Taylor represents today: fearlessness and bold expression. Taylor is known for her provocative moves, her unapologetic style, and her freedom of language in music, fashion and dance – all characteristics that also describe the Reebok Classic and the Freestyle Hi in particular.

Teyana officially launched the partnership today via her social channels through new campaign images and video that she shared with fans worldwide. With her trademark ferocity and her personal message to everyone to “Free Your Style,” Taylor is pictured wearing the Freestyle Hi, which will include three OG colorways — the Triple Red, Triple White, and Triple Black – launching this month.

“Teyana Taylor is the perfect collaborator to join the Reebok family,” said Todd Krinsky, Global Vice President of Reebok Classic and Entertainment. “She is a risk-taker who brings her own perspective to every project and she stands uniquely at the intersection of fashion, music and fitness, which are the core tenets of Reebok Classic. This partnership continues to solidify Reebok’s commitment to women who express themselves through confidence in style.”

Commenting on the partnership, Taylor said:

“Reebok has always been a brand that’s been very special to my heart ever since I was young. Freestyles were all I wanted to wear growing up so it feels like everything’s come full circle with this partnership. The 5411’s really opened the door for creativity in women’s fashion, it gave permission for sneakers to be feminine. I’m honored to be the face of the Freestyle campaign for everything it stood for yesterday and what it still represents today.”

Taylor and Reebok have notably worked together in the past, collaborating on her own brazen red colorway of the Question Mid as part of the 20th Anniversary of the iconic Allen Iverson sneaker in 2016, called the “Question Mid Teyana T.”

Taylor will initially support the re-release of the Freestyle Hi in 2017 with its three OG colorways currently available at www.reebok.com and select retailers nationwide, with additional colorways to come throughout 2017.
