Idris Elba was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night where he was asked to indulge in a game of Box of Microphones. Guests are asked to choose from a selection of songs and then take their shot and belting out the tune using one of the microphones from the box. This is no ordinary box, the microphones each have a different special vocal effect.
When it was time to play Elba’s first selection was Desiigner’s hit “Panda.” Fallon was up next with Drake’s “One Dance,” and the two finished things off with a duet of Lionel Richie and Diana Ross’s “Endless Love.”
esiigner is having one hell of a year to say the least. The young Brooklyn native fresh out of high school secured a deal with G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam off the strength of his mega smash hit record “Panda”.Was the highlight of G.O.O.D. Music set during Hot 97’s epic summer concert Summer Jam. Oh and he also just recently blessed the BET Awards stage and put on a very energetic performance for the ages.
Plus on top of all of that , you can add to his growing list of accomplishments landing on XXL’s highly coveted and often debated 9th annual Freshman Class cover for 2016.
Not bad, not bad at all how could you possibly hate on his success? Now upon being selected each artist drops a freestyle showcasing their “lyrical prowess”. If you haven’t seen it already Desiigner’s XXL freestyle has already become legendary in the social media world. Please observe the very “soulful” freestyle below:
Chances are very high you have caught yourself, snapping your fingers saying “Timmy Timmy Timmy Turner He Been Wishing For A Burner”. Hell I know I have quite a few times, it’s quite catchy. Oh by the way if you don’t know who Timmy Turner is, he is a character off the popular Nickelodeon cartoon Fairly Odd Parents.
Timmy with the burner literally.
Of course the internet wasn’t gonna let this golden opportunity slide, nope not at all. Folks began uploading videos of themselves to Instagram doing their best impersonation of Desiigner and his interesting freestyle. Yes we most definitely scoured the internet for the best ones, hit the gallery below to see them all:
If you didn’t know anything about Desiigner or the meaning behind his hit single, you will now.
Rob Markman of Genius headed over to Brooklyn, New York to chop it up with chart-topping “Panda” rapper, Desiigner. As the two took a stroll through the borough’s streets, the Bedstuy talent gave an insight on his life growing up, being shot in the hip just at 14-years-old, family, how the song “Panda” came along and the meaning behind it, his sound of music, and so much more.
Not only is “Panda” currently at the top of Billboard‘s Hot 100 charts, but now, there’s an official visual to accompany the hit single. The cinematic-clip was directed by Paul Geusebroek and Kanye West.
In the video, Desiigner hits the streets of New York with Kanye, as they drive at high speeds, racing to their next destination. Clad in body cam, shows the rapper’s high energy up close and personal, and also gives a glimpse of what just may happen at night in the concrete jungle.
After being spotted at Kanye‘s Yeezy Season 3 listening/show via MSG, Lil Kim kicks out a new remix of “Panda”, a new trending track by G.O.O.D. Music‘s new signee Desiigner. Tagging onto the remix is Brooklyn’s own, rapper Maino who assists with a few bars naming himself “the king of the streets.”
Kim of course, comes with a few tricky lines like:
I got killers in Belize
I got n*ggas in the league
NBA NHL MLB
Watch how I blow off the Hennessy
—
Two straps like a backpack
Back2Back like Drake rap
Drive the ‘Rrari like I’m on a race track
—
Eat the booty like zucchini
He pulled it out – it was teeny
