Dave Chappelle Accurately Jokes About Trump Voters In Clip From New “Equanimity” Standup Special

Dave Chappelle Equanimity
Netflix

A new clip has arrived from Dave Chappelle’s forthcoming Netflix standup special Equanimity and it’s right on time based on the current climate of the country. 45 and his fellow Republican cronies are currently swimming in pools of money after passing a large tax cut for the rich. It’s their first major legislative victory since Trump and his family slithered into the White House.

In the clip, Dave reflects on the dreaded 2016 Presidential Election that gave us Donald Trump and his experience voting in that election. He jokingly reveals that “poor whites are his least favorites” mainly because they vote against their interest all of the time. Dave points out when he looked into their faces he didn’t see any “deplorable people” instead he saw “angry faces, determined faces and they felt like decent folk”.

Could have fooled us.

Dave even points out that he even felt sorry for them because he knows the game and he knows that rich white people call poor white people trash because he made so much money the rich white people told him at a cocktail party.

Dave continues his voting story and tells the sold-out crowd that he continued to listen to the poor white voters say poor naive things like Donald Trump is going to fight for them. Dave then thinks to himself exactly what we all have been thinking about these poor, naive white voters. We’ll late Dave tell the story in the clip below cause it’s even funnier when he tells it and be sure to catch Equanimity on December, 31st.

About “Dave Chappelle: Equanimity”
Emmy® Award-winning comedy titan Dave Chappelle is capping a banner year with a stand-up event packed with scorching new material, self-reflection and tough love. In “Dave Chappelle: Equanimity,” the comedian hilariously revels in taking on culture and class, politics and the specter of getting old.

[ione_embed src=https://www.youtube.com/embed/A-yeqd_V-mY service=youtube width=640 height=360 type=iframe]

Netflix launched an incredibly powerful new campaign called #FirstTimeISawMe – about the importance of representation in entertainment. Acclaimed actress Viola Davis joined the initiative as well on Twitter to speak to the first time she saw herself on screen.

In the visual, check out Ava DuVernay, Logan Browning, Spike Lee, Marlon Wayans, Selenis Leyva, Marque Richardson and Jackie Cruz.

Netflix has created more than 1,000 hours of original content (Dear White People, Chewing Gum, She’s Gotta Have It, Orange is the New Black, etc.), this year so far that are multi-layered, unique and cover intersectional stories, which shed light on so many diverse walks of life.

Watch: ‘Dear White People’ Official Trailer

[ione_embed src=https://www.youtube.com/embed/oYKgHvPVACE service=youtube width=854 height=480 type=iframe]

Watch the official trailer for the highly anticipated Netflix series, ‘DEAR WHITE PEOPLE’, created by Justin Simien and adapted from the 2014 film.

Set against the backdrop of a predominantly white Ivy League university where racial tensions bubble just below the surface, Dear White People is a send-up of the now post “post-racial” America that weaves together a universal story of finding one’s own identity and forging a wholly unique path. The satirical series — which picks up where the acclaimed 2014 film by the same name left off – follows a group of Winchester University’s students of color as they navigate a diverse landscape of social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness (or lack thereof) and activism in the millennial age. Through an absurdist lens, Dear White People utilizes biting irony, self-deprecation and sometimes brutal honesty to hold up a mirror to the issues plaguing society today, all the while leading with laughter.

The 10-episode series will premiere on April 28th starring Logan Browning (Hit The Floor), Antoinette Robertson (The Haves and the Have Nots), Brandon P. Bell(Dear White People original film), Deron Horton (Burning Sands), John Patrick Amedori (Almost Famous), Ashley Blaine Featherson (Dear White People original film) and Marque Richardson (Dear White People original film).

Netflix Drops The Trailer For Part II of ‘The Get Down’!

We got a fresh teaser for The Get Down, Part II and now we have been by blessed with a full trailer by Netflix! The show was once heavily rumored to have been cancelled due to poor ratings and expensive costs to bring the show to life. Baz Luhrmann the show’s executive producer shot down all of those rumors including one floating around about the suicide of Jaden Smith’s character Marcus “Dizzee” Kipling.

THE GET DOWN

Part II of The Get Down picks up in 1978, one year after the events of part one. The trailer focuses on primarily the Books (Justice Smith) and Mylene (Herizen F. Guardiola) dynamic. The couple’s relationship is tested as Books struggles to balance his commitment to The Get Down Brothers and his corporate internship while Mylene is on her way to becoming a disco superstar.

THE GET DOWN

We also get a little insight on the battle with The Get Down Brother’s other founder DJ Shaolin Fantastic (Shameik Moore) and his ties with Fat Annie’s (Lillian White) drug business and how it will also affect The Get Down Brothers future. Part II looks to be even better than the first, checkout the full trailer for The Get Down, Part II above and check out the more stills and the official poster below.

Let’s just start this post off by saying this right here is the reason WE LOVE THE INTERNET! We know you need a break from the shenanigans going on during this years Presidential Election and here it is. By now you probably binge-watched Luke Cage’s entire first season on Netflix and if you haven’t what the hell are you waiting for?

giphy

Well anyway if by chance you were ever wondering how Luke Cage would look to the opening theme of Family Matters (chances are you weren’t) someone took the liberty to quell that notion. YouTube user Zach Ace who is already famous for mashing up The Avengers with Full House is at it again. We don’t know how exactly he got this to perfectly mesh together so well but we are not complaining cause we love it!

Last Night In NYC: Netflix Hosts Intimate Dinner With The Cast & Crew of Marvel’s Luke Cage

Last Night in the heart of Harlem at Ginny’s Supper Club located in the Red Rooster, Netflix hosted an intimate dinner featuring the cast and crew of their upcoming Netflix series Luke Cage.

8r5a3234

New York press and tastemakers filled the room, mixed and mingle with the cast while enjoying complimentary glasses of wine. Notable guests included Touré, Bevy Smith, Shannon Lanier (Arise360) , Chuck Creekmur (AllhipHop.com), Blogxilla and Brittany Lewis (Global Grind), Danielle Young (The Root), Gia Peppers,Alvin Blanco (Hip-Hop Wired) ,Hip-Hop Gamer (Hot 97) , Shamika Sanders (Hello Beautiful), SFPL’s own Rae Holliday, Gabriel Williams and Bernard Beanz Smalls & many more.

Cast and crew of the show in attendance included, showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker, score composers Ali Shaheed, Adrian Shaheed, Alfre Woodard, Mahershala Ali, Simone Missick and Theo Rossi.

Guests and the cast were treated to a three-course meal before the q&a with the cast moderated by Jasmine Simpkins (Hip-Hop Hollywood). To get things started Ali Shaheed and Adrian Younge spoke about the impressive hip-hop heavy score behind the show and even played an exclusive track from the show featuring Method Man.

The cast of the show then joined them to get the Q&A session started about the show. What was clear and very evident in the room was the excitement for Marvel’s first black superhero show. Among other topics touched on were as mentioned above the show’s hip-hop influenced score, the neighborhood of Harlem being its own character in the show, each of the shows characters themselves and more.

It was an amazing night and we were definitely honored to be in the building to be a part of such an important event in television. We got a chance to see the show in advance and broke down why we loved the show, and we are quite confident you will too.
