Ghost in the Shell which hit’s theaters March 31st, 2017 is already marred in a bit of controversy due to its casting of Johansson as the lead character The Major. Some fans of the original Japanese manga are calling Hollywood out on what they consider “whitewashing” of the role and feel there were plenty of Asian actresses who could have filled the roles.
Director Rupert Sanders spoke on the his casting of Johansson saying “I cast very much from the gut.” and also defended his choice of Johansson by saying “I think whenever you cast someone, someone’s going to be critical of it. To me, I stand by my decision,” he told the crowd of fans. “She’s the best actress of her generation, and I was flattered and honored that she would be in this film.”
Sanders also points out that he full support from the creators of the original anime and director Mamoru Oshii. Well from the trailer the film looks promising and we are curious to see if the film does the iconic anime justice. The Lego variation of the caped crusader is back in his own film The Lego Batman Movie! In the follow-up to the wildly popular first film The Lego Movie we catch up with Batman (Will Arnett) who pretty much finds himself to be lonely once he finishes fighting crime.
His loyal butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes) reminds Bruce of his loneliness when he tells him in the clip “Your greatest fear is being a part of a family again,”. Alfred also reminds Batman that he needs to take responsibility for his life and become a better mentor to Robin (Michael Cera) whom Batman hilariously forgets he adopted in the first place.
From there on Batman must figure out how to coexist with his new annoying sidekick and save Gotham from The Joker (Zach Galifianakis) with some added help from Batgirl/Police Commissioner Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson). The fun trailer backed the sounds of Wiz Khalifa’s mega-hit record “Black &Yellow” and updated remix of Jefferson’s Starship’s “We Built This City” has The Lego Batman Movie looking like it’s going to be a much more enjoyable experience than Batman V Superman or Suicide Squad.

The Purge maybe a fictional practice but it looks to become an annual tradition in movie theaters. Today the trailer for the third installment in the popular film franchise The Purge: Election Year is here!
This film marks the first time a star from a previous movie returns. Unlikely hero from The Purge: Anarchy, Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) is back but this time instead of almost participating in the purge his mission is to ensure the safety of Presidential candidate, Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell) as her head of security. Sounds like a simple task, but as we know when it comes to annual ritual that allows people to commit crimes such as murder without risk of arrest nothing is easy. Roan is set on ridding the world of The Purge as she was almost fell victim to the annual night of violence and feels it only targets the poor and innocent. Of course there are very powerful people who want to see to it that she doesn’t make it through the night.
The Purge: Election Year looks to add to the intense action it’s predecessor brought, step into the trailer for The Purge: Election Year below:
Expanding the universe introduced in the hit franchise that electrified the culture and earned $200 million at the worldwide box office, Universal Pictures’ The Purge: Election Year reveals the next terrifying chapter that occurs over 12 hours of annual lawlessness sanctioned by the New Founders of America to keep this country great.
It’s been two years since Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) stopped himself from a regrettable act of revenge on Purge Night. Now serving as head of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), his mission is to protect her in a run for president and survive the annual ritual that targets the poor and innocent. But when a betrayal forces them onto the streets of D.C. on the one night when no help is available, they must stay alive until dawn…or both be sacrificed for their sins against the state.
Once again returning to collaborate with franchise creator James DeMonaco on The Purge: Election Year are the series’ producers: Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Insidious and Ouija series, The Visit), Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ouija series, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and writer/director DeMonaco’s longtime production partner, Sébastien K.
