Woodworks, an independent record label based in Inglewood, CA, has created visuals for their original song, “Beautiful Boy”. This single was written and produced by Daniel Farris, founder of Woodworks. The video not only hits home for the activists of today’s social issues, but also pulls on the heart strings of every mother.
Coming into Black History Month with the recent racial occurrences, this generation has been constantly searching for positive ways to express their emotions. Daniel Farris felt inspired to create a song and video that spoke from the point of view of Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown and the mothers affected by these horrible acts of violence.
Daniel’s passion for music and the arts is what pushed him to create such a record.
Daniel says:
“I wanted to capture the essence of the innocent victims and also supply my generation with a creative expression of what is going on today. Most of this generation is so musically-driven that I felt it was only right that I used my craft and my label to continue this push for change.”
As a true family masterpiece, Daniel’s brother and mother are both featured on the song and make appearances in the video.
Davion Farris (Daniel’s brother) says:
“Beautiful Boy” captures the love that a mother has for her son and gives life to the many victims of police brutality.”
This track isn’t your ordinary rap song, it’s an inspirational crossover ballad that will sooth the soul of the listener. The chorus is sung by Daniel’s mother and world renowned Gospel writer and artist, Jackie Gouché. She wrote the Worldwide gospel worship anthem “My Help”, that was recorded by herself, CeCe Winans, and Brooklyn Tabernacle.
Jackie says:
“I am blessed to be a mother of four beautiful boys. God forbid that someone would fail to see the value in their lives.”
Westchester High School in Los Angeles, CA has brought this video into their classrooms and it has sparked discussions amongst the students.
A sophomore student from Westchester who viewed the video had this to say:
“The song was very emotional. It gave me hope in humanity. The video was a great tribute to Trayvon and Mike.”

Last Night in NYC at Katra Lounge team SFPL was in the building for the roast of our good friend Kazeem Famuyide. Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg and comedian Mike Brown were the host for the evening proceedings. Those who were tasked at making a mockery of Kaz’s 26 years of life on this planet (all in good fun of course) were Melyssa Ford, Jamal Jimoh, Dan Charnas, Chris Foxx, JasFly and Jeff and Eric Rosenthal of Itsthereal.com. Ciroc made sure everyone was in good spirits as those in attendance sipped on “Kaz-I-Kazes” (clever), “Coco Losos” and any other way they desired to mix their favorite Ciroc flavor. Checkout the rest of the photos from Kaz’s hilarious roast below.
