Michael Bay has been teasing us with bits and pieces and very vague trailers for Transformers: The Last Knight. Today we get our fist real clear look at what to expect in what Michael Bay claims will be his last Transformers film and it’s very intriguing.

In the films latest trailer we get a pretty good idea as to why our favorite Autobot leader, Optimus Prime has officially lost his mind and why he is fighting his favorite lieutenant Bumblebee. It seems Optimus is ressurected by his “creators” and is on a mission to resurrect his home world of Cybertron. In order to accomplish his goal, Earth and it’s inhabitants must go in the process. We also learn in the new trailer that Transformers have been on the planet for a very long time, in fact we are talking back to the days of when King Arthur and his legendary Knights of the Roundtable were running things. It even seems they fought alongside the fabled and King and his Knights of the Roundtable.

Of course we see the human protagonist in the film in action, a quick glimpse of Megatron, the entire planet being destroyed by another huge planet (possibly Cybertron or Unicron) and of course more of Optimus vs Bumblebee. Peep the exciting new trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight above.

Synopsis:

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive theirs, or ours.

Directed by: Michael Bay
Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, Jerrod Carmichael, Isabela Moner and Santiago Cabrera

Michael Bay Rolls Out Transformers : The Last Night Knight Big Game Spot, Hints The Film Will Possible Be His Last!

The ongoing Transformers saga continues this Summer with Transformers: The Last Knight! Ahead of the Super Bowl, the man who has been responsible for bringing the famed robots in disguise to life on the big screen unveiled the “Big Game Spot” that will air during this years Super Bowl.

That wasn’t the only thing Bay revealed today, Bay penned a letter to fans touching on what it was like working on the franchise for 10 years. He also spoke on working on the forthcoming film The Last Knight, the process in the making the film happen, and how they intend on making this one of the best Transformers film experiences ever. Bay also dropped the bomb that this Transformers film will most likely be his last and that he intends on “blowing this one out”. A claim Bay has made many times but it sounds like he is serious this time. Read Bay’s entire letter below:

“I’ve been living in this franchise for over 10 years now. For Transformers: The Last Knight, we put together a writers’ room designed to greatly expand our mythology, integrating our films in a whole new way. Every movie will interlink.

It was a huge task to expand mythology from the beginning of the world throughout history. We had a great team of writers: Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind); Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man); Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down); Zak Penn (Ready Player One); Lindsey Beer (Barbie); Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider); Christina Hodson (Bumblebee); Steven DeKnight (Daredevil, Smallville); Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Lost); and Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man).

Through the summer of 2015, they worked in a huge space on the Paramount lot, surrounded by over 10,000 concept images from the franchise’s history: the movies, cartoons, and comic books. They had a life-size Bumblebee, a Megatron head, and many other props staring them down. We pulled from everything. It was a fan’s dream room.

We brought in Transformers historians from Hasbro to educate them on where Transformers has been – so that they could figure out where it can go.

I can safely say that there’s never been a Transformers film with the huge visual scope and expansive mythology as this movie, The Last Knight.

It’s bittersweet for me. With every Transformers film, I’ve said it would be my last. I see the 120 million fans around the world who see these movies, the huge theme park lines to the ride and the amazing Make- A-Wish kids who visit my sets, and it somehow keeps drawing me back. I love doing these movies. This film was especially fun to shoot. But, this time might really be it. So I’m blowing this one out.

It’s a final chapter and a new beginning. Here’s the writers’ log line:

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero.

Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.”

Judging from the trailer this film looks like it will draw a lot more from the cartoon lore which definitely should please hardcore and casual fans alike. Now if you’re worried with Bay’s departure that means no more Transformer films, fret not because there is definitely a Bumblebee stand alone film on the way and with Transformers 6 coming in June 2018 and Transformers 7 coming in June 2019.
