Fly Stream: Mack Wilds Debuts New Project ‘AfterHours’

With a dynamic start to 2017, Mack Wilds is aiming to dominate television and music alike. Alongside starring in the VH1’s hit series The Breaks and the critically acclaimed FOX Series Shots Fired, Wilds releases his new project After Hours. Inspired by love, women and the turbulence of relationships, the project is the sophomore release from Mack following his first album New York: A Love Story released in 2013.

While I was shooting “The Breaks” and “Shots Fired”, that was the only time I had to myself or to even get into the studio.” Mack tells GENIUS. “I drew on an inspiration that came from looking around and seeing how things change at night time, how things feel at night time. Text messages at 2 a.m. look different than text messages at 2 p.m. Break-ups feel different at night. “

Today, Mack Wilds also releases the teaser for his upcoming series, ‘After Hours’ which will premiere exclusively via TIDAL on Friday, April 14. ‘ The 6-part miniseries is the perfect accompaniment to the full-length music project. Fly News: Salaam Remi Launches ‘Do It For The Culture’ Platform

Salaam Remi’s label, Louder Than Life, announces a new music platform Do It For The Culture. The platform will release 50 songs every few months over the next few years. The current release features music from NO PANTY (Nitty Scott, Bodega Bamz, Joell Ortiz), The Champagne Flutes, Sex All Summer, Miraa May, Elle Varner, Mack Wilds, Miguel, and BJ The Chicago Kid.

NO PANTY consists of Bamz, Nitty and Joell who came together to do a New York style hip hop project  with a Latin twist. Champagne Flutes is a collaboration with the UK’ vocalist Terri Walker. She inspired a lot of Remi’s work over the last few years, from using orchestras in Prague along with Cuban musicians in Miami to create a blend of Sunday “chill out” music, which is one of his biggest inspirations. Sex ALL Summer consists of Salaam and a young vocalist from Baltimore. This project is “chillout cuffin season” music which is inspired by Marvin Gaye, the Isley Brothers and many soul classics but still at the same time living in our generation. Miraa May is a young Algerian-born London raised singer-songwriter from Tottenham North London. Her debut EP, N15, produced by Salaam and James Poyser is something to be reckoned with. Signed through Salaam’s publishing joint venture with Peer Music, Salaam has been developing Miraa for the last year and a half.

Louder Than life is not only dedicated to developing and finding emerging talent, but also partnering with forward thinking brands and relying on the street and people to help find different forms of talent.

“I have a sweet spot for singer songwriters and for people who make music that is outside of the norm,” says Salaam, “I will continue to provide that option for artists out there so people don’t feel as if they are required to fit the mold of today’s pop trends. I look forward to giving more artists a shot at doing what they do best not just for myself, but for the culture.”

Salaam is dedicated to artist development and making sure his artists feel special in their own right. Salaam most notably worked with Nas, Amy Winehouse, Fergie, Estelle, Miguel, Alicia Keys and he is responsible for creating and executive producing The Fugees. His records have well surpassed 1 billion streams worldwide.

Salaam also said:

“I get excited by the reaction that we got from people, which is why I decided to put out more music – for the culture.”

The Many Formulas of Tristan “Mack” Wilds

The multi-talented Tristan “Mack” Wilds breaks down the elements of his hustle in The Formula: Science of the Hustle, which you can see at Once we turned hustle into a science, the door was open for other formulas in his repertoire.

Mack’s first love was definitely music. For him, his song creation is grounded in emotion. When he hears the right track, the emotions just jump out. This leads to the lyrics, which he infuses into the melody. This all has to work together to create a special moment in time.

“If the beat overpowers the lyrics, then it’s not a hit.” These words of wisdom came from his musical mentor, Salaam Remi.
For Mack, the marriage of music and lyrics is holy matrimony for a hit.

Beat + lyrics x Right Vibes = Mack Wilds’ Music

Mack reminds us that “enough water droplets can break the concrete.” This speaks to his element of persistence. You never know where he’s going to hit you next.

Acting gives him the opportunity to portray someone different each time he steps onto a set. The diversity of his resume speaks volumes.

Diverse Roles + Range x Strategy – limitations = Endless Possibilities

Of course, there is always a need to unwind and just enjoy yourself. So, Mack’s formula for a good time—on the rare occasion that he is not working—is rather simple. It always starts with the right people who bring a good vibe to the situation. Some great music is also a part of the equation.

The fellas(shooting pool) + Good Tunes – Stress = A Good Time for Mack and the 95

The chemistry that Mack has with his squad “The 95” is a case study in hustle. They are never not-working and that double negative is definitely a positive.
