Fly News: Chance The Rapper Added To Essence Fest Lineup As A Headliner

Grammy-winning artist Chance The Rapper will join Diana Ross, Mary J. Blige, John Legend and others as a headliner of Time Inc.’s ESSENCE Festival presented by Coca-Cola, taking place June 30–July 2, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

After recently making history as the first streaming-only artist to win multiple Grammys in top categories such as Best Rap Album and Best New Artist, Chance The Rapper will make his ESSENCE Festival debut and round out the full performance lineup for the festival concert series of more than 40 acts, including new additions: No Limit Records’ Mystikal, Mia X and Silkk; BJ the Chicago Kid; Daley; Elle Varner; Emily Estefan; Gallant; Kelly Price; Leela James; and Rhonda Ross.

Chance The Rapper – “Same Drugs” [New Visual]

Chance The Rapper brings his Coloring Book project to life and delivers his new visual to the nostalgic song “Same Drugs.” The song features vocals from Eryn Allen Kane, Yebba Smith, John Legend, Francis Starlite and Macie Stewart.

From a vintage frame, the video shows the young Chance sitting at the piano as he plays and sings from the soul paired with a Muppet-like songstress, along with a staff of muppets running a live show recording.

Chance spoke on why he wanted to premiere the Jake Schreier directed video on Facebook:

“I say, yo, I wanna put a video that I already recorded on Instagram Live, I wanna put it on Twitter Live, I wanna put it on Snapchat, and they said no,” Chance said. “But would you look at that? That’s Facebook Live holding me down with a countdown to an HD premiere of my shit.”

Chance recently released a clothing line honoring the first Black President, Barack Obama called #ThankYouObama.

Bruno Mars Performs, John Legend & CeeLo Attend 1893 Speakeasy at the LIFEWTR Art After Dark Super Bowl Party

Last night, Global Super Star and Multi-Award Winner John Legend celebrated the launch of LIFEWTR, a new premium bottled water from PepsiCo, at LIFEWTR Art After Dark, the premier Friday night Super Bowl experience at Club Nomadic in Houston. John Legend is featured in the brand’s – and his – first-ever Super Bowl ad, airing this Sunday, February 5, with an inspired version of his hit single, “Love Me Now.” LIFEWTR is a new premium bottled water that fuses creativity and design to serve as a source of inspiration, as well as hydration, to usher in a new era of thirst quenchers which launched in February.

The event was headlined by Bruno Mars with a special performance by DJ Khaled, and featured an exclusive speakeasy lounge in honor of 1893 from the makers of PepsiCola.

CeeLo Green and other VIP celebs and guests sipped on cocktails like the 1893 & Bourbon which combines Bourbon Whiskey, 1893 Ginger Cola and a lime garnish. 1893 is Pepsi’s new line of colas that offer a bold blend of premium kola nut extract, real sugar and sparkling water.

Tiësto and John Legend Release Visual for “Summer Nights” [New Video]

DJ/producer and dance music icon, Tiësto, whisks viewers to the Dominican Republic through the release of his new music video for “Summer Nights” featuring Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, John Legend.

The fun, freeing energy of a summer night takes center stage as the video explores the rich culture, exciting nightlife and beautiful city streets of Santo Domingo. People dance in jubilation, their hands raised to the heavens, as kids run through the streets and others whiz along on motorbikes. It strikes a beautiful portraiture of the local island community, with Legend overlooking the festivities as he sings along.

‘Summer Nights’ represents the first time Tiësto and John Legend have teamed up since the release of the Grammy award-winning hit remix, ‘All Of Me,’ in 2014. Together, the duo worked to create a track that stays true to John’s sensibilities as a live performer but that also incorporates the undeniable dance music energy that Tiësto is known for. The result is an irresistible summer jam that has been called a “summer sizzler” by Entertainment Weekly, a “breezy new summer jam” by Billboard, and “replay worthy-intoxication” by BET.

The track is currently available now on Spotify, iTunes and across streaming platforms.

Tiësto and John Legend reunite yet again, and are here to impact your summer with coastal vibes of “Summer Nights.” The track is bound to set the mood of just simply living life, as you party the night away.

Tiësto tells Billboard:

“I was really excited to work with John again following the huge success we had with my remix of ‘All Of Me,’” said Tiësto in a release sent to Billboard. “For ‘Summer Nights,’ we wanted to make a record that mixed the energy from my club tracks with his amazing soulful take on pop music and I’m really happy with the result. This record is definitely a bit of a musical departure for me but it was important to us that the end result really emphasize John’s funky soul vibe.”

The Word: Bars Closing, Kocktails With Khloe Canceled After One Season!

No seriously that’s it, it’s a wrap for the boozey talk show where Khloe and celebrity guest pow wowed while sipping alcohol. TMZ exclusively reports that show is done and that “both sides were unhappy”. tumblr_nj3b6zhAc21u7qlf3o1_400

TMZ also reports that Khloe wanted to focus on “other jobs” (whatever those are) and just didn’t have any interest of shooting the show anymore.

Network execs were reportedly upset with Khloe after they noticed the reality star “checked out” on the show. If you still care to watch the remaining shows left her guest will include brother-in-law Kanye West, sister Kim Kardashian, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. A pretty impressive line-up of guest for her curtain call.

Well at least Khloe now has something in common with her mom Kris Jenner they both failed miserably with their talk shows and can laugh about it on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

#GrammyWeekend: 10th Annual Roots Jam Session & Serato Pyro Launch with John Legend, Leon Bridges, Nelly, Tori Kelly & Many More

The 10th Annual Roots Jam Session and launch party for new iOS music player app Serato Pyro kicked off last night with a four hour jam session from The Roots and surprise performances from some of this year’s Grammy nominated artists and all-time favorites.

The Roots were first joined by 2016 Grammy nominee Kehlani for a couple of songs. John Legend then took over the stage with a piano to continue to bring down the house with The Roots. Best New Artist nominee and the most recent star to join The Voice as Adam Levine’s advisor, Tori Kelly then took the stage and performed 3 songs with her guitar. Indie artist Bilal jammed out before Jeremih jumped up to sing several of his famed hip hop songs, including “Don’t Tell Em.”

Finally, Nelly surprised the crowd and performed 3 of his classics, “E.I.,” “Ride Wit Me,” and Hot in Herre.”  Leon Bridges and Natasha Bedingfield were also in attendance.

Questlove, John Legend, Tori Kelly and more artists and industry guests took to the new iOS music player app and first consumer product from Serato, Serato Pyro, to curate a special playlist from the evening that is available now exclusively on Serato Pyro, for free download in the App Store. You can also find other exclusive playlists from DJ Jazzy Jeff, A-Trak, Diplo, Aoki, The Roots and more.

One of the industry’s most favorited couple, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen just purchased a new Beverly Hills home just in time to welcome their first child. The home was said to be previously owned by Bad Gal, Rihanna. At the time of ownership, Riri was going through a little dispute with her old accountants, in which the particular home was one of the investments, amongst other purchases that were unfortunately ill-advised. [*cues “Bitch Better Have My Money*]

The beautiful house comes equipped with 5 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms paired with city & ocean views, a movie theater, a HUGE walk-in closet, and a luxurious kitchen. It looks amazing. Plus, there’s definitely plenty of room for that new nursery.
