Today, rapper and producer NAV releases his latest visual for his online viral hit “Myself.” The trippy clip was directed by Alex Lill and is taken from NAV’s self-titled debut, which was released last month via XO/Republic Records. Self-released last year as a single, the track was self-produced by NAV and is a fan-favorite track that quickly took a life of its own; with close to 30 million streams on Soundcloud thus far.

NAV’s debut mixtape has quickly mirrored the success and enthusiasm of his previous projects. With over 42.7 million times on Apple Music, it debuted at #5 on the overall album chart on day of release. The project, which also features previously shared single “Some Way” featuring The Weeknd, has received attention from the likes of XXL, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, The FADER, Complex, Billboard and more. The 11-track effort was written, produced and mixed by NAV, with Metro Boomin, DannyBoy Styles and Rex Kudo contributing co-production on a handful of tracks.

Rising singer/songwriter Jacob Banks, has unveiled the video for his debut single “Unholy War.” The anthemic track, which reached the #1 spot on Hype Machine charts upon its release, is off his upcoming EP The Boy Who Cried Freedom (out this April). The video is the first of a two-part narrative that Jacob wrote and co-directed himself – a short cinematic effort featuring a father and son duo playing the protagonists in the opposite of a Freddy Kruger-esque villain. The video was shot against the majestic Colorado mountain landscape.

Speaking on the video, Banks explains that:

“The visual is inspired by real life; a lot of people are marked and oppressed for things that are out of their control. This video is just the beginning of a story that will be told in several parts and in different ways throughout the project.”

Hot off the heels from his national tour with LÉON, Jacob is headed to SXSW next week to make his mark as one of the buzziest break-out artists of this year. He will be playing a host of showcases including Billboard’s 7th Annual Music & Tech Mashup on Monday, 3/13 presented by Stereogum, SPIN, and VIBE. A full list of Jacob’s showcase can be found below or on Banks will then return back Stateside to play a string of summer festivals.

Born in Nigeria, Jacob Banks moved to Birmingham in England at the age of 13. Not short of talent, the Brit dabbled in all forms of the creative arts and began singing, playing guitar, and writing songs at the age of 20. A music lover first and foremost, Banks got his start at open mic nights and quickly garnered a following for his commanding vocal presence and daringly intimate songwriting. His music features richly textured beats, with its 808s and synth play, African-inspired grooves and a soulful disposition that culminates in an unstoppable new sound. Banks debuted with his EP The Monologue, earning feverish acclaim that saw him supporting artists such as Emeli Sandé, Sam Smith and Alicia Keys on tour around the U.K. Now, at work on his Interscope Records debut (the follow-up to self-released EP The Paradox), Banks hopes to reenergize soul music for a new generation hoping to be their solace in hard times and a battery pack on a slow Monday morning.
