Taraji P.Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae Star As Barrier Shattering African-American Women In The New Film ‘Hidden Figures’



t makes perfect sense that the trailer for Hidden Figures debuts during the 2016 Summer Olympics while we witness numerous occasions of #BlackGirlMagic on a global stage. Taraji P.Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae help tell and bring to life the untold story of some #BlackGirlMagic from the past involving three African-American women who worked for NASA during a pivotal moment in the agency’s early history.


Hidden Figures highlights the efforts of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P.Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae) who broke major barriers when they were hired by NASA. Out of the three amazing women Johnson a mathematician stood out for her mathematical skills which helped the U.S. launch astronaut John Glenn into orbit.

The inspiring tale directed by Theodore Melfi also stars Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Aldis Hodge, Mahershala Ali, Ariana Neal, Maria Howell, Jaiden Kaine, Wilbur Fitzgerald, Scott Michael Morgan, Lidya Jewett, Alkoya Brunson, Saniyaa Sidney.
