Fall Out Boy & Missy Elliot Team Up To Put A Spin On The ‘Ghostbusters’ Theme Song

The new Ghostbusters reboot opens in theaters in a few weeks and the film isn’t the only thing to get an upgrade. Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott joined forces to revamp the film’s theme song “Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid)”

The original was written by Ray Parker Jr. back in 1984 where it reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and even garnered an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. Drawing inspiration from Parker’s original, Fall Out Boy and Missy have given the theme song a rock ‘n roll edge with a sprinkle of hip hop flavor.

Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCartney, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon. It hits theaters July 15, but in the meantime check out Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott’s take on the film’s theme song.

Fly Trailer: Ghostbusters Promises To Bring The Laughs

Over the past few months the people behind the Ghostbusters reboot have been teasing us with photos of the cast, gear, and posters. We finally get a sneak peak of what’s to come and from the looks of it we are in for one hell of a comedic ride.

In case you’re late to the party, Ghostbusters hits theaters this summer and features the greatest ensemble of a female cast since Bridesmaids; which two of the stars were also a part of. Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig join forces once more together with Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones completing our ghostbusting gang. We find them in a world where parapsychology departments are no more, and the paranormal is no longer considered a true academic pursuit. Things take a turn when the ghosts make a comeback and threaten to take over the city. As the only scientists and one concerned citizen who have witnessed these things in action, it is up to them to put a lid on it.

Check out the trailer below and don’t miss Ghostbusters when it hits theaters July 16th.
