It’s here! The trailer for the eighth film in the storied Fast & Furious movie franchise has finally arrived and it looks pretty damn good!

We know, we know how can they top the billion dollar beast that was last film Furious 7? Well it looks like director F.Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) will be taking Fast & Furious to another level for the 8th film. Saturday the title of the latest chapter in the Fast & Furious saga was revealed and last night F.Gary Gray alongside the film’s stars Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, The Rock, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges and more took over Times Square’s 56 video billboards to reveal the trailer for the highly anticipated film.

Synopsis:

Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life.  But when a mysterious woman (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage…and to bring home the man who made them a family.

For THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS, Vin Diesel is joined by a returning all-star cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell.  In addition to Theron, the series welcomes newcomers Scott Eastwood and Oscar® winner Helen Mirren.  The film is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and produced by returning producers Neal H. Moritz, Michael Fottrell and Diesel.

Fly News: Charlize Theron Is Joining The Cast Of Fast & ‘Furious 8’

Charlize Theron is the latest star to join the Fast & Furious franchise as their “greatest adversary ever” for the next installment in the saga Furious 8. The announcement was made via the films Facebook account.

While details surrounding the plot of the next film are scarce the studio tapped Theron for the role early on, but she wouldn’t commit without having read a finished draft of the script. Even with a draft of the script completed, the Mad Max: Fury Road star couldn’t fully commit due to issues with her schedule. It looks like Theron was meant to play Furious 8‘s villain as her schedule cleared up and she’s 100% on board.

Production for the film is scheduled to begin this summer with the release date planned for April 14, 2017. F. Gary Gray will be directing with Neil Moritz and Vin Diesel as producers. Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, and Michelle Rodriguez will be reprising their roles.

Theron can be seen in the upcoming film The Huntsman: Winter’s War in theaters April 22.

The Daily Word: The Franchise That Just Won’t Quit, Fast & Furious 8, 9, & 10 In The Works

furious-7

Back in October Vin Diesel confirmed reports that there would be another movie in the Fast & Furious franchise with Fast 8. Yesterday, Diesel took to Instagram to announce that not only would we be getting Fast 8, but two additional films closing out the franchise with 10 films.

Fast 8 is slated to hit theaters April 14th, 2017 with the 9th and 10th films being released on April 19th, 2019 and April 2nd, 2021 respectively. Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray is tasked with directing the 8th installment. When Gary made the announcement back in October he had this to say about his involvement,

“I could not have asked for better partners than Vin Diesel, Neal H. Moritz, & the Universal Studios Entertainment family. Together we are excited to bring you the next chapter in the Fast & Furious saga. ‪#‎FastFamily”

I know most of us are thinking enough already, but as a fan of the franchise from the very beginning I’m excited about and looking forward to the the final three films. With the untimely death of Paul Walker, one of the franchise’s lead stars it only makes sense that the creators provide a true and proper ending to a franchise that’s been around for over a decade. The only question that remains is, “Will they get it right and do the iconic Fast & Furious franchise justice?”
