Watch: Erica Campbell – “I Luh God” [Fly Visual]

The Trap-Gospel Queen herself, Erica Campbell (of Mary Mary) delivers the much-anticipated visual to her trending hit single “I Luh God.”

Treading the thin line between secular and gospel, Erica takes matters into her own hands, relating to the more millennial side of things — taking the norm of the known traditional music, and possibly escalatingĀ it to another level that just might help the state of the slowly crashing genre.

In the video, Erica bounces to the beat of the trap-drum with a few friends in tow, including her sister Tina Campbell and Tamar & Vince co-star, songwriter/vocal arrangerĀ Lashawn Daniels. But does the video live up to the song? We’re afraid not. Does it feel like the talented singer and her cohorts areĀ trying just a little too hard, visually? We’re afraid so.

Erica may have tried to keep such a positive vibe about the song, until she just simply forgot to be “natural.” The video was filmed indoors — bad idea. The colorful backdrops are reminiscent of their past visuals — already done — bad idea. The alter-ego clothing choices — bad idea. The premise of the video should have been cool, calm and collective. Go in the park with friends, ride around the city in a drop-top, hit the street corners. There’s a million concepts that could’ve been done. What happened with the direction?

Check it out, and let us know what you think…

K. Michelle: I’m Doing A Remix Song with Erica Campbell

Guess who’s about to do a remix song together😁 @iamericacampbell šŸŒ»ā¤ļø

A photo posted by K. Michelle (@kmichellemusic) on

A collaboration that you never think would happen is upon us! Gospel Artist, 1/2 of chart-topping duo Mary Mary, singer Erica Campbell is set to hit the studio with Reality TV Star/Artist K. Michelle.

While at the Centric “Being” event on last evening, K. Michelle snapped a pic with Erica and posted on IG saying:

Guess who’s about to do a remix song together😁 @iamericacampbell šŸŒ»ā¤ļø

We’re totally taken back by the news but the real question is, what song would it be? “I Luh God?” How will this pan-out and will Erica get a lot of flack about collab?

At the same time, Mary Mary are known for taking risks and going against the grain of “normal” gospel music. Remember, their past remix with Ne-Yo on the hit single “God In Me?” Or just their visuals alone that included a lot of secular artists. Both, Erica and Tina started off in the music industry singing background for several talents. This pair-up for anĀ official remix was bound to happen.

Regardless of the genre, all artists have the same love for God, which gives K. Michelle the platform to share just that.

Let’s not judge right off the back and see what they come up with. We’re still quite shocked, so the end result would really have to state it’s claim, as this may be the top risk taker of them all.

Again, we shall see…

Thoughts?
