Fly News: Salaam Remi Launches ‘Do It For The Culture’ Platform

unnamed-1

Salaam Remi’s label, Louder Than Life, announces a new music platform Do It For The Culture. The platform will release 50 songs every few months over the next few years. The current release features music from NO PANTY (Nitty Scott, Bodega Bamz, Joell Ortiz), The Champagne Flutes, Sex All Summer, Miraa May, Elle Varner, Mack Wilds, Miguel, and BJ The Chicago Kid.

NO PANTY consists of Bamz, Nitty and Joell who came together to do a New York style hip hop project  with a Latin twist. Champagne Flutes is a collaboration with the UK’ vocalist Terri Walker. She inspired a lot of Remi’s work over the last few years, from using orchestras in Prague along with Cuban musicians in Miami to create a blend of Sunday “chill out” music, which is one of his biggest inspirations. Sex ALL Summer consists of Salaam and a young vocalist from Baltimore. This project is “chillout cuffin season” music which is inspired by Marvin Gaye, the Isley Brothers and many soul classics but still at the same time living in our generation. Miraa May is a young Algerian-born London raised singer-songwriter from Tottenham North London. Her debut EP, N15, produced by Salaam and James Poyser is something to be reckoned with. Signed through Salaam’s publishing joint venture with Peer Music, Salaam has been developing Miraa for the last year and a half.

Louder Than life is not only dedicated to developing and finding emerging talent, but also partnering with forward thinking brands and relying on the street and people to help find different forms of talent.

“I have a sweet spot for singer songwriters and for people who make music that is outside of the norm,” says Salaam, “I will continue to provide that option for artists out there so people don’t feel as if they are required to fit the mold of today’s pop trends. I look forward to giving more artists a shot at doing what they do best not just for myself, but for the culture.”

Salaam is dedicated to artist development and making sure his artists feel special in their own right. Salaam most notably worked with Nas, Amy Winehouse, Fergie, Estelle, Miguel, Alicia Keys and he is responsible for creating and executive producing The Fugees. His records have well surpassed 1 billion streams worldwide.

Salaam also said:

“I get excited by the reaction that we got from people, which is why I decided to put out more music – for the culture.”

"WE tv Hosts Exclusive Premiere Screening For New Series "Sisters In Law""

Sisters in Law follows a group of six talented female black attorneys in Houston as they tackle some of the toughest cases in Texas. In spite of being in a field dominated by men – who are predominately white – these black women have risen through the ranks propelled by their relentless need to achieve justice for their clients. Bonded by their immense passion for law, their gender, and their race over the years they’ve established a close-knit professional and social group. With egos the size of Texas, they at times find themselves at odds as they juggle their careers, families, political aspirations, and social calendars; struggling to remain united in the face of fierce competition — under intense pressure to succeed.

Sisters in Law premieres tonight on We tv at 10 p.m. ET/PT and trust us you want to tune it. If you won’t take our word for it, watch the first look trailer below. If you’d like to check out more pictures from the evening hit the gallery below and remember stay fly!

Listen: Elle Varner feat. 50 Cent – “Birthday” [Fly Music]

elle-varner-birthday

Elle Varner tags onto 50 Cent‘s traditional adlibs of his 2003 hit “In Da Club” on her new joint “Birthday.” 50, of course, is not too far behind giving the song a jump start with his classic flow-isms, followed by Elle’s first verse.

Later on, the Power honcho chimes back in with a few more bars, adding on to yet another hot track from Elle herself. Lyrically, the song about satisfying your other half on that special day.

Take a listen below:

Elle’s upcoming sophomore album 4 Letter Word is coming soon!

Elle Varner Warns A Friend About Her Cheating Boyfriend In “Where Your Man Is?” [Fly Music]

elle-varner-where-your-man-is

Our favorite Fly Girl, Elle Varner debuts a new song entitled “Where Your Man Is?” produced Sham “Sak Pase” Joseph.

Every walked-in on your man having sex with another female due to a moving bed with a creaky sound? Well, that’s just the message that the songstress tries to get across in this mid-tempo track.

In the song, Elle advises the next chick that she doesn’t want anything to do with her man. All the while, she is worried about Varner stealing her boo, he could be out cheating on her with the next, or perhaps in Miami at the strip club. Elle is trying to warn her of his cheating ways. But now, she learned to stay clear of anyone’s relationship.

Check out the song below:

Stay tuned for Elle’s new mixtape and album dropping soon!
