Vashtie Kola proceeds to be the hardest working Fly Girl that we know! Today, the entertainment, fashion, music and beauty maven debuts her Violette New York collaboration with PUMA.
From an array of soft, comfortable fabrics clad in polka dots, faux fur and elongated jerseys tops and hoodies, Vashtie once again, shows the ladies how to rock in a laid-back but yet stylish demeanor.
Vashtie recently spoke with ELLE.com about how the terms “Model-Slash-DJ” Should Die.
ELLE asks: You’re a DJ. You’re a model. You’re a filmmaker. When people say, “What do you do?” how do you answer?
I just say, “I’m an artist.” I hate when people—women especially—have to narrow it down. I don’t use the “DJ-slash-model” [label] because it’s so small, and it’s never the full story. I usually just say, “I’m an artist!” I make things. That’s pretty vague, but I’m in the business of making things, and traditionally, historically, artists did more than one thing. Warhol was a painter and a filmmaker. And people in New York or any major city, we’re all doing many things. It’s not really that unusual!
