Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: Diddy Tops Forbes Five: Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artist of 2017 List, Jay Z Is Right Behind Him.

Looks like once again Diddy can say “take dat, take dat” to his haters who question his wealth *coughs 50 Cent*. Forbes revealed that once again the hip-hop mogul landed the top spot on their Forbes Five: Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artist of 2017.

Thanks to Revolt TV, Ciroc vodka deal with Diageo, successful Bad Boy Reunion tour and other investments Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs pulled in a whopping $820 million. Not bad Puff, not bad at all! BUT his reign at the top isn’t as safe as it used to be as Jay Z is closing in on him.

Hova had himself a year bringing in an astounding $810 in million. Forbes reports Jay Z’s fortune jumped 30% in the last year thanks to investment deal with Sprint that pushed the value of his steaming service to $600 million. Jay’s other ventures with champagne brand, Armand de Bringnac, his film TV-deal with the Weinstein Company and of course his growing brand Roc Nation helped Hov make his impressive push.

To celebrate the news landing the top spot on Forbes list once again Diddy dropped this classy post on Instagram featuring his closest compeitition on the list.

Rounding out the list is Dr.Dre coming in third bringing in $740 million. His total was helped by selling his Beats franchise to Apple for a whopping $3 billion. Cash Money President Birdman again grabs the fourth spot on the list bringing in $110 million thanks to his deals with Lil’Wayne, Drake and Nicki. Speaking of Drake he closes out the top 5 earning $90 million thanks to his album Views, his deals with both Apple and Nike, successful Summer Sixteen tour and his label OVO.

Last years list featured the same usual suspects but had Dre following behind Puff instead of Jay with Birdman and Drake in the same spots on the list. Well if anything congrats to these guys cause they are rich, filthy rich!

Fly News: Forbes Drops Their Hip Hop’s Five Wealthiest List

Screen Shot 2016-05-04 at 2.45.33 PM

We’re almost halfway into 2016 which means it’s time for Forbes to drop The Forbes Five list identifying Hip Hop’s wealthiest. This year’s cash kings are no stranger to the list with the exception of one newcomer who landed this year’s number five spot.

Drake came in at #5 with a net worth of $60 million from touring and his endorsements with Sprite, Nike, and Apple.

Coming in at #4 is a man who demands respeck, Birdman with $110 million down from $140 million the previous year, due in part to the turmoil surrounding Cash Money.

Rounding off the #3 spot is self proclaimed “I’m a business, man” himself Jay Z with $610 million, propelled by his Tidal streaming service which is now worth three times the $54 million purchase price.

Dr. Dre once again nabs the #2 spot with a net worth of $710 million thanks to his record setting sale of Beats by Dre, the biopic Straight Outta Compton, and a pretty impressive portfolio of California real estate.

Of course Money Making Mitch once again tops Hip Hop’s wealthiest list with $750 million. Diddy continues to prove his business savvy with stakes in Ciroc, his TV network Revolt, Sean John, and Aquahydrate.

These Hip Hop moguls know how to use their celebrity and business acumen to go straight to the bank! You can head over to Forbes.com to check out the full coverage on this year’s The Forbes Five List.

Fly Visuals: Chris Brown Drops New Videos Each Day This Week In Honor of ‘Royalty’

chris-brown-royalty

Chris Brown is gearing up for the release of his latest project Royalty on December 18th, but ahead of its release he’s been teasing fans by dropping a new visual everyday until the Friday drop.

Breezy hit us on Monday with the visual for “Back to Sleep”, pairing the sensual song with a fitting video. We find Chris rushing to his girl’s place, and him surrounded by a live female band while he croons. Soon things heat up as Chris and his love interest take things from the bedroom to the shower.

On Tuesday, Breezy dropped the video for “Wrist” feat Solo Lucci. The dark, and hazy visual complements the eerie tone of the track. We see Chris walking, stumbling, and confused as he follows this shadowy female figure into a warehouse.

This morning, Chris released visual for “Anyway” feat Tayla Parx where he continues to develop the story from where things left off in “Back to Sleep”. We find Breezy’s love interest fed up with his ways and attempting to move on, but things don’t quite go as planned.

It is now Thursday and Breezy hits us with his fourth visual entitled “Picture Me Rollin,” paired with a sample from Dr. Dre‘s “Let Me Ride.” In the video, Chris gets a call from Keeping Up With The Kardashians very own, Scott Disick aka Lord Disick to meet up at a local house party, as CB later links up with the likes of; French Montana, A$AP Ferg & Rocky.

You can check out all four visuals below. Will you be copping ‘Royalty’ on Friday?

DJ Mustard: “It Use To Bother Me When I Would Hear Songs That Sound Like Mine”; Producer Lands A Feature On GQ.com

dj-mustard-gq-01

Not just your average DJ, but one of the most-sought out producers in the music industry today; DJ Mustard lands a feature on GQ.com. In the article, the hit-maker talks about music, countless hit singles, his sounds being duplicated, Jay Z, a new sound for 2016 and much more.

dj-mustard-gq-02

Dijon Isaiah McFarlane [Mustard’s real name] spoke on others jacking his beats:

“It used to bother me when I would hear songs that sound like mine, but I don’t really care no more.”

DJ Mustard has no intentions of starting a rap career like Dr. Dre and Kanye West, and plans on passing along his best material even more:

“I’m selling everything,” he says. “I give all my best stuff to other people.”

On Jay Z [his Roc Nation Boos] being an inspiration for him and not releasing any music in 2015:

“He doesn’t have to. I’m trying to get to that level when I can just put out music when I want to, and work when I want to work instead of just all the time.”

As stated, Mustard has plans for more new music at the top of the year [2016], which GQ’s Jake Woolf notes as “Trap EDM,” once hearing a new collaboration track that features a 2015 breakout rapper. We wonder who that could be??

Jake says:

“At the end of our meeting, he plays me a song featuring a young rapper who had a breakout year in 2015. The song, which is set to drop in early 2016, doesn’t sound anything like any DJ Mustard track you’ve heard before. I don’t even remember hearing the “Mustard on the beat” tag. (Though I did only hear the song once.) Maybe the best way to describe it is something like trap EDM—really, really dope trap EDM. If I were a low-risk betting man, I’d put my money on this song being a massive hit. When the song is over, Mustard smiles and laughs. “This is gonna move!”

Fly Interview: ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Cast Talks Movie Roles, Drake Vs. Meek Mill Beef & more

straight outta compton cast

O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Ice Cube), Jason Mitchell (Eazy-E) and Corey Hawkins (Dr. Dre) have all encompassed their roles to the point where it’s quite scary how well they play each of their characters in the upcoming movie biopic, which hit theaters on Friday, August 14th.

During the interview, the fellas spoke on the pressures behind playing someone that they’ve idolized for so long.

[O’Shea] on playing the role of his very own Father, Ice Cube:

It had to audition for two years before I got the role. And then, after that I had a chemistry test with [these two: Jason & Corey] and like two other [Cube’s] and like three [Dre’s], and Universal Studios still had to pick the right man for the job. It’s a crazy amount of pressure because it’s my family’s legacy.

O’Shea admits that he may follow in his Father’s footsteps and pursue more music (says he gave Big Sean a nudge recently on the subject, as he laughs). But, for now acting is his main priority, he says.

[Corey] on why he thinks they were casted:

They wanted it to be authentic. They wanted it to be right, and they weren’t looking for impersonations. They could’ve found guys that looked and sound exactly like them, but they wanted people who they knew could do the work and just capture the legacy of N.W.A.

[Jason] says:

They took the fear away from us by letting us know…”you guys are right for the job. we pitched you guys for a reason. All the impersonations and all of the problems that you think you guys are going to have physically, we’re going to give you the tools to feel comfortable, but in the meantime, just to be here to support you guys.”

On the Drake vs Meek Mill:

It looks like there’s about six rounds left in the fight, so let’s not count it out completely. But we all know what the judges cards are looking like at this point. It’s been a knockdown in the fight! He got up but lets just see where it goes.
