New Music & Videos: Daley, Jill Scott, Iggy Azalea, Desiigner, Zayn & PartyNextDoor

[ione_embed src=https://www.youtube.com/embed/wpjFSZG7Rfw service=youtube width=854 height=480 type=iframe]

R&B hit-maker Daley is set to release his upcoming studio album The Spectrum via BMG. For his second full-length album, Daley draws on professional and personal experiences from the last two years, including the loss of close friend and manager Richard Antwi. With this release, Daley has unlocked the next chapter of his musical journey with renewed inspiration… and eagerly-awaited new music.

For the first single “Until The Pain Is Gone,” Daley teamed up with none other than the R&B queen Jill Scott to create a love song that reflects the bittersweet push-pull of being vulnerable in love.

“Having Jill involved is an honor,” Daley explains. “She’s royalty in my eyes- someone I’ve looked up to musically from a very malleable stage in my songwriting career. When I was just starting to understand how to put my feelings into song, Jill was one of a handful of influential artists who’s music helped me figure out how to channel that.”

Working with one of his greatest inspirations came about after Daley opened one of Jill Scott’s shows in London.

“She was really kind and encouraging and we stayed in touch,” he says. “In the studio writing this song I just had a feeling… kept hearing Jill’s voice as the song developed, like it was asking for her energy. I’ve learned to trust those gut feelings when they occur, so after a little hesitation I sent it to her for her thoughts… and was thrilled to receive a reply that she loved it! She took it and interpreted it in her own amazingly soulful way, and it was done.”

Take a listen above.

KEEP UP WITH DALEY!

The Word: Desiigner Has Been Cleared of All Charges Related Drug Arrest!

Desiigner got some great news regarding his drug arrest earlier this year. TMZ reports that the final charge for drug possession will go away clearing the Brooklyn rapper of all charges.

Sources close to the case revealed to TMZ that the D.A. moved to seal the case and dismiss the final charge. The move is considered to be “face-saving” one for authorities who already dropped other charges from the September arrest.

During that arrest Desiigner was initially charged with menacing, possession of a loaded weapon and intent to sell. It was later revealed that investigators didn’t find a weapon and the drugs turned out to be steroids more than likely prescribed to the rapper.

Desiigner himself wasn’t in court, but his two attorneys Ian Nyles and Stacy Richman were on his behalf and told TMZ “we’re happy he’s been exonerated, and happy with the investigation from the D.A.”.

Now that he is completely in the clear, the rapper can now completely focus on his still young music career.

Watch: Desiigner Raps For Anna Wintour While Modeling

As clothing designers rolled into a large room, competing for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award — full of prestigious fashion judges, including Vogue‘s own Anna Wintour, rapper Desiigner walks into the room as the muse of clothing line STAMPD. Just to add, the finalists work with Intel to create futuristic fashion pieces that interface with phones and the internet. The talented Brooklyn artist just happen to be wearing one of those special pieces as it was presented to the committee.

Excited as he can be, you could tell that Desiigner was not only happy to be in the building, he was more ecstatic to see “Ms. Wintour,” as he called her. Once the viewing was over, he was asked to spit a verse and the “Panda” artist had no problem turning right around to do just that.

Check it out above as Desiigner lends his vocals to the room with “Timmy Turner.”

Desiigner Talks Success, Influences, and Upbringing with Pusha T for ‘Interview’ Magazine

Musical phenom Desiigner‘s featured in October’s issue of Interview magazine. Pusha T, current president of G.O.O.D. Music interviewed the hip-hop new comer discussing his instant breakout hit, his musical influences, how he considers himself an artist not a rapper, recording “Panda,” and his upbringing in his hometown of Brooklyn, NY.

Desiigner jumped to the forefront of hip-hop with his infectious smash “Panda.” At the time just 18-years-old, the Bed-Stuy native went on to receive a co-sign from Ye himself; who later signed him to his G.O.O.D. Music label.

There was more success on the horizon for the young star. Kanye sampled “Panda” on “Father Stretch My Hands,” a record off his highly-anticipated album Life of Pablo; propelling the artist’s debut track up the Billboard 100 charts, ultimately landing at No. 1.

Desiigner continued making waves.  After nabbing a spot on XXL‘s coveted Freshman list, a 45-sec clip of him performing his new single “Tiimmy Turner” acapella, as a member of the 2016 Freshman Class immediately went viral.

Check out some of the highlights from the Billboard charting artist’s interview with his G.O.O.D music boss below.

ON HIS MUSICAL INFLUENCES:

“If anything, I would consider my grandfather. He’s a blues player. I like the old soul—you know how it is, Pusha, that old soul. My grandfather, he went by the name Sidney “Guitar Crusher” Selby; he formed that old soul, that old blues, that old rock that I put on my songs. He bluesed it out. And my pops, he was old-school, too; he played that old funk. I fell in love with that old style. You feel me?”

ON THE AFFECTS OF SUCCESS AND BEING AN ARTIST:

“Yeah. I definitely see that people take my creativity a lot more seriously now. It’s a lot more serious, because that’s the artist I want to be. I’m an artist, I’m not a rapper, I’m nowhere near a rapper. I’m an artist, and I’m here to be creative with every step I take, with every move I make. You feel that? You know what time it is!”

ON CREATING “PANDA”:

“When I heard the track, it was like a movie started in my head. It’s like, God put the words in me. The way it started, it’s like I saw the movie in my head and just wrote. I didn’t even think about it, I just blanked out. It was a zone I blanked to. And God was giving me the words. Even today I think about how I make my music, and I’m like …”

ON WHAT’S TO COME:

“It’s going to be a whole lot of visuals. It’s creativity on top of creativity. Merchandise, tours … It’s going to be crazy. The Life of Desiigner, baby, that’s the name of the album.”

The 19-year-old’s star is certainly shining bright. With his debut Life of Desiigner pending and respect from hip-hop heavyweights like Kanye, and Pusha T, Desiigner’s well on his way to carving out a lane of his own and reaching even greater heights.

Phresher & Desiigner Join Forces For “Dope” [New Music]

https://soundcloud.com/therapfest/the-rapfest-premiere-phresher-ft-desiigner-dope

As the old saying goes, sometimes everything does come full circle. Over year ago, Brooklyn native Phresher released the official music video for his single “On The Low,” which featured a then little known Desiigner. The single was well received online and even made it’s way to BET Jams.

Fast forward a few months and Desiigner was one of the most talked about artists in Hip Hop, inking a deal with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music and landing at number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts with his breakthrough single “Panda.”

At the same time, Phresher was hitting the pavement with his own material that began to catch wind on the Internet. While on tour, he released what would eventually become the very buzzing single, “Wait A Minute.” Still making its rounds, the track eventually caught the attention of 50 Cent, who hopped on the remix, further raising Phresher’s profile.

Now, as he continues to build his resume, The Rapfest has been given the green-light to premiere “Dope,” which is a collaborative track between Phresher and Desiigner.

The cops found the suv, searched it and found a large quantity of loose pills according to law enforcement Oxycontin and other drugs. designer and 4 other individuals were all arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of drugs with intent to sell. MTV Announces 2016 Video Music Awards Nominees

The MTV Video Music Awards announced the nominees for this year’s ceremony via Facebook live this morning. Leading the pack was Beyoncé with 11 nods for her Emmy-nominated visual album Lemonade. Adele follows with 8 nominations for her record-breaking album 25. The songstress’ will be competing for Best Female Video along with Rihanna ft. The award show returns to the Big Apple this year. Grande landed 5 nominations along with Drake who nabbed Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Male Video, and Best Art Direction. Kanye West received two nominations for “Famous” while his foe Taylor Swift on the other hand garnered zero nominations. The pop star’s “1989” album came out in 2014 so her recent singles “Wildest Dreams,” “Out of the Woods” and “New Romantics” were ineligible.

West’s infamous track features naked images in the likeness of the rapper and other celebrities, including his wife Kim Kardashian, Swift, Donald Trump, and Bill Cosby. ‘Famous” is at the heart of the current feud between the Chicago emcee and Swift. Kardashian recently delivered receipts; leaking audio of Swift giving West her blessing to the lyrics, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex.” The “Wildest Dreams” singer originally denied West’s claims he reached out to her prior to releasing the song. She quickly changed her tune, now claiming West did not play her the entire track or reveal the lyrics in full omitting the line, “Why? I made that bitch famous.”

West’s video for the controversial “Famous,” garnered the Video of the Year nomination and will be facing-off with Beyonce’s “Formation,” Adele’s “Hello, “Justin Bieber‘s “Sorry,” and Drake’s “Hotline Bling.” Newcomers Bryson Tiller, Desiigner, Zara Larsson, Lukas Graham, and DNCE, will battle it out for the Best New Artist award.

The late David Bowie, who died from cancer earlier this year, earned four nominations in the categories of Best Direction, cinematography, art direction and editing for “Lazarus.” The video featured the icon frail and lying in bed, eyes bandaged and was released several days before his Jan. 10 death.

Others artists who earned multiple nods include Alessia Cara, Calvin Harris, Coldplay, Desiigner, Fergie, FKA Twigs, and The Weeknd.

Voting opened online Tuesday. Nominees for best song of the summer have yet to be announced. The MTV VMA’s will be airing live from Madison Square Garden on August 28 at 9 p.m. ET. Will you be tuning in?
