Marvel Releases Key Art for ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’

Today, Netflix released the key art for their original series Marvel’s Luke Cage via the show’s TwitterFacebook and Instagram pages, leading up to the trailer debut tomorrow.

‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’, the third show in the Defenders series to launch on Netflix, will premiere globally on September 30, 2016 at 12:01am PT. The series follows the launches of Marvel’s Daredevil and Marvel’s Jessica Jones, and leads up to the future release of Marvel’s Iron Fist and ultimately, Marvel’s The Defenders.

In this groundbreaking new series, audiences will witness the evolution of Luke Cage (previously introduced in ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’) after he has relocated to Harlem and is in the process of picking up the pieces following his failed relationship with Jessica Jones. Like the preceding Marvel series on Netflix, ‘MLC’ is a gritty, action-packed drama, grounded in the real world with heroes who focus on saving their neighborhood and have their feet firmly planted on the ground.

About Marvel’s Luke Cage:

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Mike plays the charismatic lead character, Luke Cage and is joined by Mahershala Ali (Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes), Alfre Woodard (Mariah Dillard), Simone Missick (Misty Knight), Theo Rossi (Shades), Frank Whaley (Rafael Scarfe) and Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple).

Sweet Christmas: Netflix Teases Upcoming Marvel Series At San Diego Comic Con

etflix flexed its superhero muscle yesterday at San Diego Comic Con.They decided to roll out the big guns this year by giving comic book nerds what they wanted.

With fans already salivating for more after binging off Daredevil’s second season and Jessica Jones, these teasers were a welcomed sight. Netflix got the ball rolling dropping a tantalizing sizzle composed of its current Marvel line-up with a sprinkle of Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Jon Bernthal as the feared vigilante The Punisher.

Not too far after that the teaser for the highly anticipated Luke Cage series hit the net. The teaser showcases Cage’s powers on full display as he dispatches thugs to soundtrack of O.D.B’s classic record “Shimmy Shimmy Ya”. Cage’s main foe Cornell Stokes will be played by Mahershala Ali (House of Cards) and looks to be a thorn in the indestructible hero of Harlem’s side.

Oh we cannot wait for this series! A series about a bulletproof black man is definitely right on time.

But wait there’s definitely more! Netflix definitely wants to make sure that you will be Netflixing and chilling for a loooong time. Sticking with the Marvel theme, they also gave us a glimpse at Iron Fist starring Game of Thrones Finn Jones as Danny Rand. In the teaser we get a glimpse of how he came to be a monk and eventually the martial arts master Iron Fist.

Looks good doesn’t it? Watch the teaser for Iron Fist below:

It’s all coming together slowly, which leads us to The Defenders. The Netflix miniseries serves as its version of The Avengers uniting all of the M.C.U. (Marvel Cinematic Universe) characters under the Netflix umbrella on one show. Not much is revealed visually but we do hear the voice of Stick (Scott Glenn) from Daredevil.
