Looks like everyone still wants a piece of the ‘Empire’ pie. Since becoming the number 1 TV show, Fox series Empire has been getting a lot of heat because people believed that the show was based on their life. This story is no different except the person claiming the show is based on their life is not famous.
53 Year old Sophia Eggleston is suing Fox and Lee Daniels for $300 million for “stealing” her life story. In the show ‘Cookie Lyon’ was this drug lord that had went to jail and coincidentally so did Eggleston. Once out of prison Cookie puts a hit out on someone; and you guessed it so did Eggleston but she fulfilled her that hit herself and was jailed for it.
Sophia does not believe this situation is a coincidence. She reported that in 2011, she sent a copy of her memoir The Hidden Hand to Rita Miller who is a screenwriter. Supposedly Miller told Eggleston she would pitch the story to Lee Daniels.
Not only do she believe the story line is about her; but she also believe that she and Cookie fashion sense is similar. Previously, Lee Daniels said that the character Cookie was inspired by his sister and the women in life. None of the ‘Empire’ creators has spoken out about these claims; hopefully this situation can get handled before things get out of hand.
