Converse releases “Planetary Energy,” the new GZA and Sweet Valley collaboration off the brand’s latest installment of the Cons EP series, Cons EP VOL. 3.

“Planetary Energy” spotlights GZA‘s signature pensive rhymes over trip-hop-influenced beats created by Sweet Valley duo, Nathan and Kynan Williams. The track was written and recorded by GZA at the Converse Rubber Tracks recording studio, a state-of-the-art studio in Brooklyn, NY that provides emerging artists with the incredible opportunity to record music in a high-quality studio, at no cost.

Cons EP Vol. 3 is a unique music compilation that brings together eight incredible artists from varying genres to create four new tracks. A celebration of musical diversity, ‘Cons EP Vol. 3’ follows in the footsteps of Cons EP Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, two predecessors that featured the likes of Vince Staples, Bad Rabbits, Trash Talk, The Internet, RATKING, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Flatbush Zombies, and many more. ‘Cons EP Vol. 3’ is slated to continue colliding the worlds of hip-hop, rock, metal, electronic, and more through original, innovative music with the fourth and final track slated for release this summer.

Converse debuts its latest video, featuring award-winning artist, Big Boi, created exclusively for the upcoming Converse Rubber Tracks studio takeover. With the global music platform unlocking the doors to the world’s most iconic recording studios (including Big Boi’s very own Stankonia in Atlanta, GA) in September 2015, Converse had an amazing response thus far, with thousands of applications from aspiring artists worldwide within the first few weeks alone.

Narrated by Big Boi himself, the new video features the rapper and producer sharing personal anecdotes about recording some of Outkast’s biggest hits at Stankonia, including; “The Way You Move,” “Hey Ya,” “Ms. Jackson,” and “So Fresh, So Clean.”

Check it out below:

Stankonia – along with other iconic studios including Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, California; Tuff Gong in Kingston, Jamaica; and Abbey Road in London England – are part of the next chapter of ‘Converse Rubber Tracks,’ which invites aspiring artists of all genres from all corners of the globe to follow in the footsteps of legends, past and present, to record original music at each of these landmark studios — at no cost.

Global registration has begun since Tuesday, May 26 and runs through Wednesday, June 24, featuring an online submission process that requires applicants to rank their top three studio preferences, and encourages all to enter a brief artist biography or description via a video or written application. If selected, chosen artists will be notified in early July. Following a thorough planning session with studio producers, artists chosen will be taken to one of their studios of choice in September this year, with most travel accommodations arranged and select expenses covered by Converse.
