The award show returns to the Big Apple this year. Grande landed 5 nominations along with Drake who nabbed Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Male Video, and Best Art Direction. Kanye West received two nominations for “Famous” while his foe Taylor Swift on the other hand garnered zero nominations. The pop star’s “1989” album came out in 2014 so her recent singles “Wildest Dreams,” “Out of the Woods” and “New Romantics” were ineligible.

West’s infamous track features naked images in the likeness of the rapper and other celebrities, including his wife Kim Kardashian, Swift, Donald Trump, and Bill Cosby. ‘Famous” is at the heart of the current feud between the Chicago emcee and Swift. Kardashian recently delivered receipts; leaking audio of Swift giving West her blessing to the lyrics, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex.” The “Wildest Dreams” singer originally denied West’s claims he reached out to her prior to releasing the song. She quickly changed her tune, now claiming West did not play her the entire track or reveal the lyrics in full omitting the line, “Why? I made that bitch famous.”

West’s video for the controversial “Famous,” garnered the Video of the Year nomination and will be facing-off with Beyonce’s “Formation,” Adele’s “Hello, “Justin Bieber‘s “Sorry,” and Drake’s “Hotline Bling.” Newcomers Bryson Tiller, Desiigner, Zara Larsson, Lukas Graham, and DNCE, will battle it out for the Best New Artist award.

The late David Bowie, who died from cancer earlier this year, earned four nominations in the categories of Best Direction, cinematography, art direction and editing for “Lazarus.” The video featured the icon frail and lying in bed, eyes bandaged and was released several days before his Jan. 10 death.
Others artists who earned multiple nods include Alessia Cara, Calvin Harris, Coldplay, Desiigner, Fergie, FKA Twigs, and The Weeknd.
Voting opened online Tuesday. Nominees for best song of the summer have yet to be announced. The MTV VMA’s will be airing live from Madison Square Garden on August 28 at 9 p.m. ET. Will you be tuning in?
Now if you’re a fan of the Panthers you were absolutely disgusted and immediately shifted your attention to the NBA and who can blame you. After having a dabtastic season Cam Newton and his Carolina Panthers were easily dismissed by the Sheriff, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos and the no.1 defense led by Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware.
Panthers fans this video of the Panthers cornerback Josh Norman pretty much sums up how you felt once the game clock hit 0.
To make matters worse for Panther fans, not one Panther had a reason to dab on anybody during the game. The Panthers offense was completely shut down! Now one person who totally had to turn off his phone and is probably not watching any television after last night is Cam Newton.
Boy did he get dragged last night, him and MJ’s crying mug got really acquainted with each other last night.
His press conference following the game didn’t help matters either as he is being slammed for walking out during his press conference.
We definitely feel for Cam but that comes with the territory, you gotta be able to take the bad just as much the good. Now that will be his lasting memory after a pretty amazing season.
WELP, with all that said the creative comedic geniuses on the internet still found a way to turn Super Bowl 50 into a laugh fest. We love some hilarious memes here at the SFPL and boy did they started flowing when the halftime show ended and when the Panther’s lost the game. Hit the gallery below to see the best ones.
Coldplay will be performing in Super Bowl 50’s halftime show this Sunday, and looks likes lead singer Chris Martin found himself in a bit of a pickle without a ride to San Francisco. Lucky for him James Corden happened to drive by and begrudgingly agreed to give him a ride to the game.
This edition of carpool karaoke follows Martin and Corden on the road to Super Bowl 50 as they sing a slew of Coldplay songs including “Adventure of a Lifetime,” “Yellow,” “Paradise,” and “When I Ruled the World.” Corden asks Martin to breakdown American Football, Martin shares what he’s currently listening to, they stop for lemonade, and even catch some z’s at a motel before continuing on their journey on a two person bicycle, upon discovering their car has been stolen. Check out the hilarious road trip below.
It was only right for Coldplay to link with Beyonce for a new celebratory, turn-up song entitled “Hymn For The Weekend.”
Front man, Chris Martin wanted to boost creativity on the forthcoming album, landing the group on their 7th project to date.
When asked by Wall Street Journal, how did “#HFTW” manage to come out a different kind of Coldplay song:
The original kernel was that I was listening to Flo Rida or something, and I thought, it’s such a shame that Coldplay could never have one of those late-night club songs, like “Turn Down for What.” What would we call it if we had one? I thought I’d like to have a song called “Drinks on Me” where you sit on the side of a club and buy everyone drinks because you’re so f—ing cool. I was chuckling about that, when this melody came—“drinks on me, drinks on me”—then the rest of the song came out. I presented it to the rest of the band and they said, “We love this song, but there’s no way you can sing ‘drinks on me.’” So that changed into “drink from me” and the idea of having an angelic person in your life. Then that turned into asking Beyoncé to sing on it.
Talking with Annie Mack of BBC Radio 1, Coldplay’s bassist Guy Berryman says:
She’s [Beyonce] unbelievably professional. We were so blessed to have her sing on one of our songs.
