Fly News: Kendrick Lamar Being Honored With Key To The City Of Compton

Mayor of Compton, CA  Aja Brown will be honoring Kendrick Lamar with the Key To The City of Compton. Brown made the announcement on Twitter citing, Lamar being an inspiration to people around the world and always reppin’ his hometown of Compton,CA as the reasoning behind the honor.

It’s no surprise that the emcee is being honored by his hometown. Lamar’s always been vocal in his music about the love he has for the city, as well as the issues people of color are facing in cities across the United States like his hometown. BALLIN’: Brandon Jennings Buys out Theatre for “Straight Outta Compton” Screening



Last Night, NBA star Brandon Jennings took his community and family to watch the #1 film in the country, Straight Outta Compton at The Bridge – Cinemark Theatre in Culver City.

Jennings who is a native of the City of Compton, CA decided to support the film in a unique way, as he bought out the whole theatre to watch the film with his friends and community.

Brandon spoke to the movie attendees saying:

“I’m from the City of Compton, this is very important to me, and to my City, this is one of our first films for Compton specifically and I’m proud to support it, so I bought this whole Mutha Effa Out.”


He invited out other Compton Natives such as Malaysia – star of BBWLA, Eric Bellinger – R&B Singer who’s project Cuffin Season is climbing the charts and LA Ambassador/ Super Promoter herself Miss Diddy who’s company represents Brandon Jennings.


Brandon also thanked Marc Rose who played 2Pac in the film for coming out and supporting his viewing event.
