[ione_media_gallery id=”182602″ overlay=”true”]

This past Wednesday, ORIGINAL PENGUIN hosted a one-of-a-kind stand-up comedy event to help celebrate the new Spring ’17 collection. The brand’s flagship store in NOHO was transformed into a comedy cellar for the evening as NYC’s fashion tastemakers, music enthusiast, and comedy-lovers gathered for a night of laughs, food, and fun.

The event was hosted by RocNation DJ and comedian CIPHA SOUNDS and featured comedians NIMESH PATEL (writer for Chris Rock at the 2016 Oscars) and JARED FREID (Tru TV’s “NFL Full Contact” and MTV’s “Failosophy).  Cipha Sounds also provided the live soundtrack to the event alongside hip-hop luminary DJ KEVLOVE.

Guests were treated to drinks provided by HEINEKEN and tasty treats by SIGMUND’S PRETZELS, as they checked out Original Penguin’s new SP17 RetroSport Safari Collection and enjoyed many laughs.

Original Penguin has a long history of working with legendary comedians (i.e. SAMMY DAVIS JR.), so it was natural to host an event that merged the brand’s unique sense of humor with the latest collection of ICONIC styles. The brand has plans to continue hosting events as a part of the continue their OP Presents Comedy series.

Then it’s veteran DJ, Funkmaster Flex caused a MAJOR riff in the Hip Hop community by declaring war on one of culture’s largest pioneer’s, Jay-Z. And now, after 17 years, another staple, Cipha Sounds is chucking the station the deuces.

The drug dealers were so accommodating, that they insisted that one of the cast members wear a very opulent and extravagant piece of jewelry while the show was filmed.
