[FLY Diary][Quotes] Rip The Runway ‘Viewing Party’ ….

It was all a Dream …

Wednesday evening, we held a viewing party alongside fellow bloggers Claire Sulmers and Gabi Fresh and models Liris Crosse, Chasity Saunders and Sabrina Athena as well as Designer Kiki Kitty, who all participated in this year’s BET’s Rip The Runway. It was truly a special moment for us, not only were we first time participants but this was the first year they brought in Fashion Bloggers and we were among the first.

Tons of Tastemakers came out to show love as we headed to Highland Park in midtown New York.

EXCITEMENT! I took the liberty of getting some quotes from my fellow participants on their thoughts on the show …

Claire of The Fashion Bomb Daily

“I was super nervous because it was my first time on TV, but Pooch was super fun and put me at ease. I was impressed by the fashion and performances. Overall, it was great and I can’t wait to do it again!”

Gabi of GabiFresh.com

“I had such an amazing time! It was so refreshing to be at a fashion event with energy and fun, something nyfw is still lacking! “

Model, Chasity Saunders

“Year after year BET’s Rip The Runway find’s the perfect way to bring the world an innovative fashion show featuring some of today’s top models, artist and designers. This year they stepped there game up again with a fabulous twist featuring some of today’s top fashion bloggers as well”!

“The average woman is a size 14 and this year I was selected to open the “Size Sexy” segment of the show alongside R&B Crooner Robin Thicke, wearing a gorgeous Qristyl Frazier design! It was an honor to represent the full-figured fashionista of today on a national stage. I commend BET for inclusively showing every woman in America no matter what size they are that they too can be fashion forward and look glamorous, curves and all”!

Model/Actress, Liris Crosse

“Rip The Runway” this year committed to showing a variety of designers this year from all genres so that no viewer could feel left out when watching. The show also showed a variety of performers exhibiting why “Rip The Runway” is the perfect marriage of music&fashion.I was sproud to represent Qristy Frazier’s line on the show. My new campaign for her Nirvana line debuted last night as well on her site www.QristylFrazierDesigns.com

Model, Athena Sabrina

“As a model from urban culture I find it frustrating that we don’t have many outlets to express our level of professionalism and pride in our craft to our peers. In a media full of misrepresentation of “urban” women I appreciate BET/Rip the Runway for granting us the opportunity to set a positive example of professional industry MODELING to younger generations.”

Designer, KiKi of K.Milele

I love that this year’s RIP The Runway was able to portray real “Urban” Fashion. “Urban” has been a dirty word for so many years, only being associated with large logo, baggy clothes, and crazy colors. When in essence the Urban culture, can’t be placed in a box. Urban fashion looks hit every angle the spectrum and Rip The Runway Represented that beautifully.
The Red Carpet segment which highlighted my brand, K.Milele, is a perfect example of on trend contemporary looks that we as Urban youth/adults have always embraced but were never credited for.
Thanks BET for properly representing today’s Urban culture.
