The lovely ladies of BET’s Chasing Destiny have finally announced their name … *insert drum roll here* as June’s Diary!
Recently, auditioning for Kelly Rowland‘s super girl group on the hit BET show, Chasing Destiny, singer Jennifer Waris stunned other contestants and fans, as she covered Labrinth‘s hit song “Jealous.” Jennifer impressed Kelly so much that formed the group around her. SFPL also got word that Rowland has also signed the budding young talent to her label, as a solo artist.
Jennifer is also one of Kelly Clarkson‘s main background vocalists, whom she stated that she just came off tour with the American Idol alum during the taping of the show.
Check out her cover in full.
Recently, Chasing Destiny star, ASH. releases her second EP, Please Like Me. The project is an unapologetic desperate pursuit for love.
Each record: “Wrong Number,” “I Know Who,” “Please Like Me,” and “The Goodbye Song” represents that last-ditch effort that almost every girl has experienced when fighting for love or pursing a “going nowhere fast” relationship. While these narratives are not new to pop music, ASH. commits her full project to expressing the lengths she will to go for love.
Overall the sound of the music is expired by 70’s and 80’s pop. Recently, the songbird was one of the main cast members on BET‘s new hit show, Chasing Destiny, starring Kelly Rowland. The show is focused on Kelly (Destiny’s Child) and Frank Gatson (Beyonce’s Choreographer) finding the next big girl group.
Prior to this show, ASH. established her music career by working as Janelle Monae’s background singer for multiple years. Last year, she released her debut project, The Perfect EP.
Take a listen below.
Passing the torch, Kelly Rowland is instilling into the new generation what she’s learned over the years through her new series Chasing Destiny, which airs on BET every Tuesday at 10P/9C.
Putting together what she hopes to be the next “Super Girl Group”, Rowland gets some assistance from the ultimate Creative Director, Frank Gatson Jr. and Vocal Coach, Julian Sapp.
Julian is known for offering his knowledge of vocals and instrumentation to some of the biggest music stars in the industry. He is also singer Luke James‘ Music Director and front Keyboardist.
In the clip provided, Sapp groups all of the ladies together around the piano, as they go through a series of songs in A cappella mode. And if you’ve been watching the show, you may be surprised on how polished all the contestants sound in this short video, compared to what’s been shown in full. It looks like Julian brought the spark out of them, and it’s just what they needed.
But now, it’s up to Kelly and her team to decide who stays, and who goes.
