Bishop Eddie Long Dies At The Age Of 63

It has been officially announced and confirmed that Bishop Eddie Long, head of Georgia-based megachurch has passed away at the age of 63. The church where Eddie presided, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church along with his wife First Lady Elder Vanessa Long confirmed his death as he was battling an aggressive form of cancer.

A statement first received by Atlanta Journal-Constitution said:

“New Birth Missionary Baptist Church celebrates the life and legacy of Bishop Eddie L. Long who is now spiritually healed and home with the Lord. Bishop Long, Senior Pastor of New Birth, transitioned from this life early Sunday morning after a gallant private fight with an aggressive form of cancer. As a man of God with unyielding faith, Bishop Long maintained his commitment to our Heavenly Father as he proclaimed that cancer would not kill his faith nor his spirit. First Lady Elder Vanessa Long, Bishop Long’s wife of 27 years offered the following. ‘I am confident through my belief in God that my husband is now resting in a better place. Although his transition leaves a void for those of us who loved him dearly, we can celebrate and be happy for him, knowing he’s at peace.’”

Rumors of his illness had been going on for a number of months and just recently Long attended one of his services on Oct. 9, 2016, after just coming out of the hospital, and spoke to his church advising that he was healed. This was just in time for his Pastoral Anniversary Service. He then later has a healing service for those currently in physical pain.

Close friends and loved ones have been deeply saddened by Eddie Long’s passing:

The Word: Big Ang Diagnosed With Stage 4 Brain & Lung Cancer

Big Ang

Reality television star Big Ang of VH1’s Mob Wives has been diagnosed with stage 4 brain and lung cancer.

The reality star real name Angela Raiola, underwent surgery a few months back after doctors had initially found a tumor the size of a lemon in her throat. The operation was successful and Raiola began focusing on recovering. She shared a few details about her diagnosis, recovery, and lifestyle changes with People saying,

“Things happen for a reason. I’d smoked for 40 years. No one could tell me what to do. It’s hard to just put down the cigarette and never look back. I enjoyed smoking. I miss it so much. But it’s over. If I had known, I might have picked the [chemo] treatments. It feels like they cut me head off and put it back on. I’m learning how to swallow again. I have a phobia of choking. I’m just doing the best I can, taking it day by day.”

During a routine appointment back in December Raiola learned that the cancer was back. At that time doctors weren’t sure of the extent, but now it seems the cancer spread to her brain and lungs. She began chemotherapy treatments on January 5th. When doctors reviewed CT scans on January 26th, it was clear the treatment was not working, as one tumor had grown in size and the other two remained unchanged.

On a Go Fund Me page created by her sister Janine Detore, to raise funds to cover treatments to help ease the tremendous amount of pain Ang is in, it was revealed that Raiola would be commencing immunotherapy shortly. Our prayers go out to Big Ang and her family. If you’d like to donate you can do so here.

Celine Dion‘s longtime husband, manager, and musician René Angélil has been fighting throat cancer for a number of years now, and unfortunately it got the best of him Thursday morning at his Las Vegas home.

Celine stepped down from her Las Vegas residency in 2014 just two months after her husband could no longer handle management duties due to his throat cancer, which he was first diagnosed in the late 90’s. His condition worsened as he ended with a feeding tube, Dion told USA Today in March.

Celine returned a year later to her Vegas stage thanks to encouraging words from René.

She told ABC’s Deborah Roberts during her announcement of her comeback:

“I’m doing it for him. I’m doing it for my fans. We have a ticket to live. We have a ticket to ride. We’re living, so let’s live. Let’s go.”

He and Celine got married in 1994. René leaves behind his seeds, son René-Charles in [born in 2001] and twin boys Nelson and Eddy [born in 2010].

Screen Shot 2016-01-24 at 12.09.37 AM

There’s so much more than just amazingly fly facial hair as Long Island native Modo delivers a hilarious new visual for his track “Beard Gang”, along with co-stars Femi Lawson and Vine sensation TravQue. The Dukey Dukez-directed video is the lead single from Modo’s ongoing #BeardGangVsCancer movement, centered around raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

“I wanted to release the song during ‘No Shave November’, but I didn’t want to have a Cancer fund raiser that only lasted one month,” says Modo of his intentions. “I also didn’t want growing our beards to be only during November, so I started Beard Gang Vs Cancer. I chose St. Jude because although every type of cancer is horrible, it is always hard to see very young children who haven’t gotten a chance to live yet, have to battle cancer.”

Modo’s Beard Gang team will be fundraising through new projects and merchandise in 2016, including a special mixtape in time for All-Star Weekend.

Taylor Swift‘s mother, Andrea Finlay, has been diagnosed with cancer.
Swift revealed the news Thursday in a Tumblr post to fans titled Just So You Know.

https://twitter.com/taylorswift13/status/586176122330550273
“Hey guys,” she writes. “I’m writing to you with an update I wish I wasn’t giving you, but it’s important and I’m used to sharing important events in my life with you.”
At the end of last year, the 25-year-old singer explains, she asked her mother to go get a health screening as a Christmas present for her. “She agreed, and went in to get checked,” Swift writes. “There were no red flags and she felt perfectly fine, but she did it just to get me and my brother off her case about it. The results came in, and I’m saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer.”
Swift and her family are keeping details of her mother’s condition, and her treatment plan, private.
She ends the post by explaining why her mother wanted her to share the news: “Your parents may be too busy juggling everything they’ve got going on to go to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battle. … I hope and pray that you never get news like this.” Lets keep Taylor Swift’s family in our prayers during this hard time.

On a lighter note, congrats to Swift on her 14 Billboard Nominations! Wow!
