Pynk Like A Man?

Summer is here and Hot 97 is preparing for their annual Summer Jam which always features the best in hip hop and R&B music. The station recently announced Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, J. Cole, and Big Sean for the Event and now the rest of the roster has been identified. They will be joined by artists; Waka Flocka, French Montana, Maino, Tyga, 2 Chainz, Mavado, Young Jeezy, Trey Songz, Wale, Meek Mill, and DJ Khaled.

This year the concert goes down on Sunday, June 3, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Early attendees can attend the Festival Village stage featuring A$AP Rocky, Pusha T, Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Big K.R.I.T., and Fred the Godson.

Superstar & Mogul, Jay-Z surprised the Youtube Upfront attendees with a performance of “Empire State of Mind.”  Clad in his brand new Brooklyn Nets fitted caps he designed for the occasion.

The Crowd was a little taken aback when ‘On to The Next One’ came on, but quickly rose to their feet when Jay stepped from behind the curtains.

Chris Brown debuted his latest venture in the form of an art show last night in Los Angeles.

CB launch his Dum English collectibles toy line, and also displayed his street art for the first time at a VIP event at the Corey Helford Gallery.

Brown and artist Ron English, painted a life-size Dum English astronaut sculpture in front of guests including Chris’s BFF, Bow Wow. Proceeds from the Dum English toy line will benefit Chris’ Symphonic Love youth foundation. If successful, it will expand into other areas including sneakers.

Brandy’s younger sibling, Ray J has landed a new gig. This time he’s putting his modeling talents to work.

[Trend SPOTTING] Kanye West & Chris Brown in Chunky Gold Chains …

Looks as if an old trend is creeping it’s way back in slowly …

Both The Best Dressed Man in the World, Kanye West (According to us) and The Worst Dressed Man in the World, Chris Brown (According to GQ) were spotted in chunky gold neckwear recently …

Kanye West, was spotted at Paris Fashion Week, sat on the front row at the Mark Fast Show during the 2012 London in a pair of his highly sought after Air Yeezy 2’s.  He rocked multiple gold  chains as his accessory of the evening, not the first time we’ve seen Kanye do this, but duly noted none the less.

Chris Brown was spotted leaving his Miami Beach hotel wearing a gold plated Versace Medusa rope chain necklace  and a pair of Air Jordan Retro 4 sneakers which just dropped this past Saturday (No, no one was hurt this time).

 

Over the weekend, Chris was spotted in a striped tee, khaki’s and the same chain.

We smell a trend… Are you in?

[WE LIKE] Chris Brown’s Air Jordan Obsession …

I think to say Chris Brown is a little obsessed with Air Jordans is an understatement. But the Truth is … we are too. It’s the one retro sneaker that I never mind throwing on my feet. It’s not so extra that it brings your age down, it’s complex but simple if you know what I mean.

I guess that’s why Chris loves them…

He was recently spotted in the white and cement retro 3’s …

And then again in the black and cement retro 3’s …

[Fly-LIGHTs] Celebrities Show Off Their NYE Style …

Some of your favorite FLY Celebrities were snapped out on the scene during New Year’s Eve. Starting with Diddy who took his talents down to South Beach to host a private party for his celebrity friends including Vivica Fox.

I really wish Vivica was still a ‘working’ actress, she really is a good one.

Smh.

Kim Porter and Nene Leakes were also on hand to countdown to 2012 in Miami. We hear Nene was good and tipsy!

Hehehehe!

Rihanna was also at the party. The Bajan beauty to a break from her vacation in Barbados to come through.

Mary J. Blige looked fabulous in an off white Herve Leger Bandage dress (yes, they ain’t going nowhere) with gold embellishments on Saturday night as she rang in the New Year at the Grand Opening of RPM in Las Vegas.

Kim Kardashian and her Momager Kris Jenner were on hand at TAO Nictclub in Vegas, where it’s reported that Kim got a cool $600,000 to host the NYE Gig.

The Kardashians just keep on takin’ it!

Terrence J, Selita Ebanks & DJ Cassidy were also in Miami getting their party on!

A suited and booted Chris Brown was on deck in Vegas as he hosted New Years at Club Pure.

His girlfriend Karreuche was by his side as well. *shrugs*

And on  New Year’s Day, Drake performed at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, dressed for the occasion as usual.

Chris Brown’s New Year’s Resolution is to not speak to the press…

In an interview with Billboard, Chris Brown’s manager Tina Davis revealed that he would not be doing any interviews in 2012. She told the magazine that he won’t do interviews, but he will “concentrate on performing and recording…..” She added, “We’re not trying to be rude, selfish or disrespectful to anyone in anyway. If people are going to judge anything, judge him for his talent.”

Was my first thought …

 

Then I though a little longer and said …

…Because Chris doesn’t do very well with interviews.

But after more thought, I’m like …

Is this smart? On one side his talent will always be the focus if there’s no room for him to hang himself. On the other hand, it doesn’t help Chris grow as an interviewee if he’s not  experienced, he needs to be well spoken and articulate and able to handle himself as an adult in any situation. This approach would be more beneficial if his talent were up for questioning, and that is not the case. If he’s taking the year to train in proper etiquette and demeanor, or receiving help for his anger management issues, then this works wonderfully. If not, then we can look forward to him throwing bigger tantrums whenever he does return to doing interviews. Suppressing one’s issues is not the same as resolving them. They just become bottled up which can lead to an even bigger explosion once these issues are finally released.

And not for nothing, there are not MANY artist who can successfully afford to isolate the press under any circumstances.

But this is in fact, just our humble opinion.

[Trend Spotting] Say It With Denim…

Your favorite celebs have been spotted out and about in this season’s hottest trend, denim. Denim has never really left the building, it’s actually a fashion staple. No wardrobe is complete without a great pair of denim jeans and a denim jacket. You can now add the denim button-up to that list as more stars are showing up in them, like Hip Hop Mogul Jay-Z who rocked a denim shirt, jeans and the Nike Air Yeezy 2‘s to the Net’s game last night.

Alicia Keys was recently spotted out and about in denim jeans and a matching jacket. Now we never condone matching denim …

Nope, never is.

Chris Breezy ran the streets of LA this weekend in a denim jacket with sheepskin interior, denim jeans and those Air Jordan Concords.

And Kanye West took his talents to the LA Lakers Christmas Day Game versus the Chicago Bulls in a denim shirt, black jeans and those Air Yeezy 2’s.

Can we get a pair tho?

In case you needed a little inspiration we’ve include some guidelines, since jeans are always plentiful in the closet of any Fly Person, it’s the top you need a little assistance with. Look for light washes with as much detailing as possible, it brings out the entire jacket or shirt.
