Fly Visual: Maxwell Sets The Mood in “1990x” Video

Back in July Maxwell released his highly anticipated fifth studio album black SUMMERS’ night. Yesterday the R&B crooner dropped off the visual for “1990x” one of tracks off the project.

The sultry ballad is perfectly complimented by the dark and sensual Philip Andelman directed video. In the visual we find Maxwell serenading a special someone before they take things inside as things start to get a little hot and heavy.

Watch Maxwell’s fitting video for “1990x” below.

I had the pleasure of attending a listening session for Maxwell’s new album BLACK Summer’s night.

When I first heard of Maxwell’s comeback- I wondered if he could still make good Music. I mean, there are a few people who have come back-who should have stayed where they were. Wasting people’s time and busting out my eardrums. All I could think of were classics like Ascension-and how they made me groove. Or ‘Til the Cops Come Knockin’-Hello?

Could he really do it again?

After yesterday’s listen. He’s Got my Vote. Pretty Wings definitely sets the tone for the rest of the album. Bad Habits (the second single) is just an example of the awesome instrumentation on the entire album. The band-goes in-and so does Maxwell.

Black summer’s night, is the first in a trilogy to be released-with that said-I will own the entire trilogy.

Key singles for me aside from the first two singles were Playin Possum– classic Maxwell with a funky edge and Phoenix Rise an excellent instrumental that will definitely get you moving.

Stay Tuned- The Album hit’s stores July 7th…
