David Gibbs better known as David Tru, a stage name and moniker bestowed upon him for no other reason than his dedication to keep it real and true to the music. Growing up as the youngest in a family of 5 boys and only his mother present, Tru faced hardships at an early age and used that to channel his energy into being an all around athlete excelling at track and field, basketball, football and power-lifting. At the age of 16, David shifted his energy and attention from sports to focus solely on music and expressing himself with just a pen and notepad. After seeing positive reactions to his voice and relatable song lyrics, Tru began to develop his identity and found his voice as an R&B vocalist and writer.
In 2015, linked up with Blackroom Management and became their first signed artist to represent the brand. In just a short period of time with The Blackroom, the multifaceted David Tru paired his own grind and talent with the label’s work ethic, production and professionalism and began to work on projects to showcase his vocals and abilities as a songwriter and performer. The young artist lived up to his hype with upcoming tracks like “LMK”, “Tokyo” and “Aftermath.” Tru strives to make music with substance that people can relate to. His focus is wired tightly to the future and his genuine sound that he brings to the game.
