We Like: ‘Moonlight,’ ‘Atlanta’ Win Big at Golden Globes


Last night, A24 and FX took home Golden Globes for the critically acclaimed film Moonlight and the hit new comedy series “Atlanta,” respectively.

Going into the evening with six nominations, Moonlight won the night’s most prestigious prize: “Best Motion Picture – Drama,” while “Atlanta” earned “Best Musical or Comedy TV Series” and “Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy” for creator/executive producer/star Donald Glover.

“As someone who went 8 years without making a piece, I gotta give love to A24,” said Moonlight director Barry Jenkins during his acceptance speech. To my mom… you gave me my life and I hope this film is a fulfillment of the life that you gave me. [And] To everybody on Twitter, Instagram, and everybody back home in Miami and New Orleans if you have seen this film, and told a friend all I ever ask is that you tell a friend, tell a friend and tell a friend.”

Since opening last October, Moonlight has been nominated for six NAACP Image Awards, six AAFCA Awards, three Screen Actor Guild Awards and six Independent Spirit Awards. The film has won two Critics’ Choice Awards, four Gotham Awards, four LA Film Critics Association Awards, three NY Film Critics Circle Awards and much more.

Fans can follow the evolution of the film’s success on the site Moonlight is in theaters everywhere.

Last month, Donald Glover picked up a “Best Actor in a Comedy Series” award for “Atlanta” at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Season one of “Atlanta” is available for viewing online.

From custodial workers to millionaires, Power duo Rotimi and 50 Cent pair up for the visual remix version of “Lotto.”

In the video, Ro and 50 take a little break at their daily 9 to 5 job. As Rotimi relaxes and reads the newspaper, he comes across the most recent lotto numbers, compares his ticket with the digits listed, and then realizes that he actually hit the LOTTO.

As, he wakes Cent from out of his deep sleep with the good news, the two cohorts quit their job immediately to collect their check, go car shopping, and hit the club for an official turn-up. But, there’s a small twist at the end…
