H.E.R. – “Your Way” [New Music]

Remaining unknown by face but very much by the voice and music, H.E.R. is back with more new music!

Today, the “Focus” singer drops “Your Way” produced by R.M. Tedder and Scootie, penned by singer/songwriter Ginette Claudette and producer/singer/songwriter Swaggrcelious.

Expounding on the darkness and light intensity of her sound that leaves you very curious and wanting more, she adds the classic formula of Aaliyah‘s “Come Over” as almost she and the late artist created the collaboration in a perfect world. It’s completely flawless.

H.E.R. is currently in the studio putting finishing touches on the sequel to the Vol. 1 project which will be due out soon.

For now, have “Your Way” above and listen to the new track.

Stream Kehlani’s New Debut Album ‘SWEETSEXYSAVAGE’

Today is the perfect day for the young budding songstress! Kehlani drops her long awaited debut album SWEETSEXYSAVAGE and it is every bit of the title that it carries, all 18 tracks.

Known for her previous project You Should Be Here and Hot 100 single “Gangsta” from the Suicide Squad soundtrack, and current singles “Distraction” & “CRZY”, Ms. Parrish delivers a new body of work with standout tracks like: “Keep On”, “Personal”, “Advice”, “Do U Dirty”, “Hold Me By The Heart” and “Thank You”.

A personal favorite of ours, “Too Much” finds the singer along the lines of Aaliyah‘s vocal structure even down to the production reminiscent of Timbaland and Missy Elliot, paying homage to what the 90’s trio contributed to music during the 1990’s to early 2000.

Adding another official banger to our collection, “In My Feelings” runs into the chorus scales of New Edition‘s classic hit song “If It Isn’t Love” just off the heels of their 3-part miniseries The New Edition Story. Genius. Hands down, the mashup is lit.

If you fell out of love with R&B, Kehlani will make you fall in love with it all over again. The album is pure perfection.

You can find ‘SWEETSEXYSAVAGE’ on all streaming platforms.

KeKe Palmer Talks Social Media Clapbacks, Sexism & Her New Crush on The YBF Podcast

KeKe Palmer &‘s founder Natasha Eubanks sat down this week for a crazy new episode of The YBF Podcast, plus a mini photoshoot!  It was all hosted at the gorgeous Samsung 837 experiential flagship & cultural destination in New York City’s Meatpacking District.
KeKe talks about getting the internet trolls together, her sexy 90’s inspired image, her new NBA love interest, why she used Kylie Jenner to talk about beauty standards, and gives the tea on the movie industry. While chatting about her new EP Lauren, she exclusively revealed what she’s working on with Chris Brown.

KeKe also dished on why she’s unbothered by people who don’t love her new image, the MAJOR divas she wants to play in a biopic, that tragic Aaliyah biopic, playing in a new lesbian love story movie called “Pimp”, the craziest celeb contacts in her phone, and who she would smash-marry-kill (both men AND women).

A few highlights:

On clapping back during social media drama:

“You see me clapping back because I’m a real person.  I don’t feel like just because I’m on tv I have to hold myself to the standard you think that I should.  I want everyone to stop believing and buying into ‘Just because you’re famous, why would you pay attention to me,’ and all these things that aren’t true.. “

On her new crush:

Jimmy Butler [of the Chicago Bulls].  Girl, he is fine!”

On the Kanye & Trump debacle:

“You don’t know if he’s doing it all for a gag or…Him and Donald Trump could be in on some ish together for all we know.  There’s so much entertainment that goes on and it’s so well thought out and so organized, I don’t even think people realize it.”

On sexism:
“The age thing, I always felt. The African American thing, I always felt.  The sexism, that came with womanhood. I could not believe it. It is horrific. My mama always told me to keep your eye on the prize…We honestly do have to swallow our pride. Women have to do it more then men do….[So now I say], ‘I’m listening to you, I’m loving everything you’re saying. But last time I checked, I had 4.4 million followers and I don’t need you to let me release my video.'”
On what she REALLY meant by her Kylie Jenner social media post about beauty standards:
“It’s no disrespect, but this family is the biggest example of this which is, ‘I’ll do anything that they want me to do to get the attention.’ When people are saying ‘Yeah I love this,’ you’re buying into them saying ‘I’ll do anything to make myself the beauty standard’….We send a lot of different conflicting messages.  When was the last time we ever praised a girl for being natural [physically]?”

“Die in It” is the latest release off Rocketshipshawty 2 and also the last. RSS 2 is the sequel to the 2012 original. The mixtape, that also features “GoldenEye” and “Lamborghini Dreamin’”.

**Premiere** Fly Acoustics: Singer Tweet Talks New Album ‘Charlene’, 8-Year Hiatus, Performs Single “Won’t Hurt Me” & more

After a very long music hiatus, our favorite songbird is back and ready to deliver!

Singer/Songwriter Tweet, stopped by Stuff Fly People Like‘s premiere of Fly Acoustics, a music series where artists get personal, share past & present experiences, all while presenting new music, and delivering a LIVE acoustic performance to media conglomerates and fans on-site.

While kicking the segment off, Tweet spoke on why she took time off:

I have been preparing myself for this moment, just getting myself together spiritually after the second album didn’t go too well — I decided to take a break and kinda get my life spiritually together. So, in that I rededicated myself to Christ — so he would orchestrate everything that’s happening now. And, I also signed to a couple of labels, and it just didn’t work out.

Since her last 2005 album, It’s Me Again, Tweet followed up with a new EP 8-years later entitled Simply Tweet.

Tweet’s new forthcoming album Charlene (Jan. 2016) gives us a journey through her written diary, sharing the up and downs of life, and what she was going through within the hiatus.

Tweet also talks about wanting to get back to “real soul music,” that makes you think, that speaks of liberation for women, and just simply that “good feeling.” She even speaks of perhaps doing a full Gospel album one day, per request from her aunt, Juanita before she passed away.

Check out the FULL visual of our very own, ‘Fly Acoustics’ below with a special performance from Tweet of new single “Won’t Hurt Me”:
