FLY News: The NBA Is Entering The eSports World With The NBA 2K eLeague!

Fellas and ladies you ever wanted a chance to play in the NBA? You ever wanted to get paid to play eSports? Well the NBA and Take-Two Interactive are going to give you your chance at both!

Now how you might ask? Well today the NBA and Take-Two Interactive the company behind the beloved NBA video game simulator NBA2K announced that will be starting their own eLeague. Each of the NBA’s real franchises will have their own virtual franchise and will draft the best NBA2K players. This move marks the first time a professional eSports league will be owned and operated by a U.S. professional sports league. NFL, MLB, NHL,FIFA and WTA your move!

Each player will have their own virtual avatar, the eLeague will follow a professional sports league format. Players will face off head-to-head and will participate in a bracketed playoff system and then a championship game. So basically this will the virtual players job!

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb. 9, 2017– The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTWO) today announced plans to launch the NBA 2K eLeague, a new, professional competitive gaming league that will bring together the best basketball gamers in the world. This marks the first official eSports league operated by a U.S. professional sports league.

Set to debut in 2018, this groundbreaking competitive gaming league will consist of teams operated by actual NBA franchises. The founding teams, each composed of five professional eSports players who will play the game as user-created avatars, will be announced in the coming months. The NBA 2K eLeague will follow a professional sports league format: competing head-to-head throughout a regular season, participating in a bracketed playoff system, and concluding with a championship matchup.

“We believe we have a unique opportunity to develop something truly special for our fans and the young and growing eSports community,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “We look forward to combining our best-in-class NBA sports team operators with Take-Two’s competitive gaming expertise to create a brand new league experience.”

With this new venture, Take-Two and the NBA aim to fuel the accelerating growth of eSports and take the thrill of competition to exciting new heights.”

The relationship between NBA and Take-Two dates back to 1999, with the NBA 2K series selling over 68 million units worldwide. The most recent release, NBA 2K17, is the highest-rated annual sports game of the current console generation and the highest-rated title in the history of the NBA 2K series.(1) To date, NBA 2K17 has sold-in nearly 7 million units, and is poised to become 2K’s highest-selling sports title ever.

In December, 2K launched its second official eSports competition, NBA 2K17 All-Star Tournament, which offers teams of gamers the chance to win a trip to NBA All-Star 2017. The 5-on-5 tournament, featuring a $250,000 grand prize, will culminate on Feb. 17 in New Orleans.

Remember when they used to say playing video games were a waste of time? Yeah me neither! eSports are definitely the future and the NBA recognizes that! I won’t be surprised if other professional sports leagues like the MLB, NFL, NASCAR, FIFA, WTA and PGA follow suit eventually.

Damn 2016 took another life and that would be Ronda Rousey’s career :-(. What was being built as the comeback of one of UFC’s most popular athletes turned out to be a huge dub.

Ronda didn’t even make it out of the first round let alone put a scratch on Amanda Nunes. Not to mention Nunes immediate reaction after beating Rousey was scathing enough telling the crowd “FORGET ABOUT RONDA ROUSEY”.

Nunes who didn’t really break a sweat got on her phone immediately and posted a meme on her Instagram account to add insult to injury.

On top of the that you know the internet wastes no time in conjuring up memes and hilarious tweets to rub it in even more.

 

Absolutely brutal, now honestly I hope Ronda has a strong support system around her to help her cope with this devastating defeat. Besides lets give Ronda the credit she deserves she pretty much put the UFC’s women’s division on the map and also was the sports BIGGEST star before Connor McGregor burst on the scene. Cam Newton by no stretch of the imagination is having the season he did last year. His Carolina Panthers are pretty much on the outside looking in when it comes to getting in the playoffs and his play on the field has been very sub-par.

The usually fashionable quarterback’s post game attire has also taken a hit. Things have been going downhill fashion wise for Newton since he wore those infamous Versace pants. This season it’s been nothing but L’s on the field and off the field as folks just sit back and wait to see what in the hell Cam will wear this time.

Bron and some of his Cavalier teammates will be breaking league protocol by refusing to stay in the Trump SoHo when the Cavs visit New York City to take on the Knicks. The move should come as no surprise, LeBron this past election was a staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton and gave her a ringing endorsement.

NY Mag reported:

“Cavaliers general manager David Griffin said on Monday that the team would find alternative accommodation for any players who don’t want to stay at a Trump property and that plans have been made for any “group that wants to be elsewhere to be together elsewhere.”

The Cavaliers are not the first team who vouched to avoid Trump properties in response to Trump being elected President. The Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks and Milwaukee Bucks also stated they will not be staying at any Trump Hotels.

The Cavaliers also were the last championship team to be honored by President Barack Obama at the White House this year.

The boycott is not only focusing on Trump’s property but athletes are already discussing if they would even visit the White House if invited by Trump. Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert has already stated if the Cavaliers repeat as champions (I hope they do) he will not be visiting the White House to meet with Trump.

Trump’s presidency is definitely filling the air with uncertainty sprinkled with a heavy dose of divisiveness as we don’t know what this man will do once he sets foot in the White House. One thing that is pretty certain folks ain’t here for Trump and the King is leading that parade.

Matt Barnes Allegedly Chokes Woman During Fight In NYC Nightclub, Says He Didn’t Choke Anyone & Was Defending Himself.

Matt Barnes might be in some serious trouble! Early Monday morning Matt Barnes and his Sacramento Kings teammate DeMarcus Cousins celebrated a loss to the New York Knicks at Avenue Nightclub in NYC. It’s there the two stars were involved in an incident where Cousin’s allegedly punched a man and Barnes choked a woman.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ exclusively that 911 received a call to the nightclub after midnight, with reports of a man assaulting a 2 women and a man. TMZ also learned that things got physical when Barnes allegedly choked the woman. When two other people tried to break up the fight, Barnes allegedly punched both of them.

TMZ also has exclusive video in which you can hear Matt’s teammate DeMarcus Cousins saying, “I hit the s*** out of that n*gga”.

Both Barnes and Cousins fled the scene before cops showed and Barnes is currently being sought after by police.

Matt Barnes spoke about the altercation through a rep who reached out to TMZ :

“Barnes was having a good time at Avenue Nightclub with his teammate, DeMarcus Cousins, when he went to sit at his VIP booth and accidentally “butt bumped” a woman who was at the next booth over.

Barnes claims the woman reacted by slapping him in the face, hard — and that’s when all hell broke loose. 

Barnes claims the woman’s crew — which included several men — jumped in and began to get violent. Barnes was knocked to the ground in the melee and one of the men began to choke him. 

Barnes got physical in an effort to protect himself. Cousins also jumped in to defend Barnes.”

Barnes also took to his Instagram to address the situation taking shots at the media stating “There’s always two sides to a story… The side the media consistently tries to paint of me …And what actually happened! Don’t believe anything you read!”

Well we shall see Matt, Barnes is cooperating with the investigation and his attorney Alex Spiro tells TMZ “We do not believe a crime was committed and are hopeful no charges will be pressed”.

We wouldn’t be shocked if the NBA hands out disciplinary action following this latest incident involving Barnes and superstar DeMarcus Cousins.

wyane Wade is putting all his insecurities to the side and shedding his basketball jersey and shorts for ESPN’s annual ‘Body Issue’. It took 7 years but ESPN finally got their man and the ladies will rejoice and the fellas will put down the doughnut after seeing how in shape Wade is.

Wade is known for being fashionably loud spoke to ESPN about hopping out of his comfort zone for the feature:

It was uncharted water for me. It was one of those moments where it’s good to overcome a fear of something.

It’s bigger than me showing my body off. That’s not as important to me as telling a story of overcoming a fear. It hopefully gives someone confidence to really be their authentic self.

Wade also revealed in an interview with ESPN’s Morty Ain that growing up he didn’t even like taking off his shirt to participate in neighborhood water fights with other kids. Wade wasn’t too fond off his belly button as a child and it was one of biggest insecurities growing up. That was then, this is now, Wade has come to terms with his great physique and is willing to share his “naked truth”. Wade joins 18 other athletes that span across various sports showing off their athletic physiques.

LeBron didn’t stop there though as it was time to call out all of the sports pundits and haters who said the King couldn’t get the job done. LeBron basically points out every single criticism that came his way this season and lets them know they were dead wrong about him. But most importantly LeBron just wants them to #PutsomeRespekOnHisName.

iley Curry move over and make way for the next two to step up to the microphone. In what is becoming a new thing (we welcome it) during the NBA Playoffs, star guard of the Boston Celtics‘ Isaiah Thomas was accompanied to the podium by his two young sons, James and Jaden. They just finished watching their dad put on a show in TD Garden leading his team to victory and tying up their playoff series with the Atlanta Hawks. Unlike Golden State Warriors all-star guard and more than likely this years MVP Steph Curry’s daughter who made her presence felt immediately during her dad’s post game press conference the two young boys saved their best for the end.

James introduced himself to the room of reporters by saying “Hi everybody” and then proclaimed his dad “Isaiah is the greatest basketball player”

Now Riley can never truly be outdone, she has imprinted herself into the hearts of millions of forever but it looks like we won’t be getting an encore press conference appearance cause her dad suffered an sprained MCL that will have him out for two weeks.

Cam Newton wanted us to look at his pants instead of his dab yesterday as he boarded the team bus. Ashy ankles and all , Cam was decked out in a pair of $850 Versace zebra striped pants which could very well pass as leggings and some funky shoes to complete the look.

Cam thought he was extra FLY as he exuded nothing but confidence as he strutted to the team bus. The internet though was not here for his expensive #coolpants and proceeded to let Cam have it.

Cam’s off the field fashion has been brought into question before for his choice of pants here are his other fashion “offenses”:

Those pants weren’t as outrageous as these ones, maybe this is just Cam displaying his love for the brand, that the rap group Migos affectionately made a song about, who also who made the dance move he so loves to do on the football field. Or maybe it’s just Cam trying to hard to be fashion forward? Whatever it is the folks on the internet is not here for it. We just hope Cam seals the deal and wins the chip cause internet will not be kind.We can already see the Michael Jordan crying face being photoshopped on his head wearing those pants.
