Rapper Chris Kelly, of the famed Hip-Hop duo Kris Kross, died at a hospital in Atlanta, GA yesterday.
He was 34-years-old.
The rapper, who will be remembered mostly for being one-half of the backwards dressing rap duo, Kris Kross, was pronounced dead earlier yesterday.
A spokeswoman for the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Officer told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Chris was found unresponsive at his home on Wednesday and transported to the Atlanta Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is planned at the medical examiner’s office for Thursday morning to determine the cause of death.
We last saw Chris when he reunited with Chris Smith at the 20th anniversary concert for Jermaine Dupri‘s So So Def label.
Chris’ mother and The So So Def Family released a joint statement saying:
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved Chris Kelly has passed away on May 1. To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trendsetting, backwards pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross who loved making music. But to us, he was just Chris – the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party. Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him. His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him.”
