Last Night In NYC…Antwan Andre Patton, better known as Big Boi – one half of the iconic rap duo Outkast filled up Brooklyn’s Converse Rubber Tracks for an invite only album listening session. Check out more after the jump…
If something is going down of epic hip-hop proportions, you most definitely will see Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson in the building.
Big Boi finally hit the stage, backed by a live band he performed new cuts off his forthcoming album “Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors”. If you count ‘Speakerboxx’ and we do, this will be his 3rd solo effort. He started things off with “Apple of My Eye’, followed by “CPU” and rounded things out with “Mama Told Me” which features Kelly Rowland.
Once his brief performance he retired to a metal chair positioned by the DJ and previewed other tracks such as “Lines” featuring the Harlem phenom A$AP Rocky and indie pop duo Phantogram. “In The A”, followed and features fellow ATLiens T.I. and Ludacris, and he closed out the listening with “She Hates Me” which pairs Big Boi with Kid Cudi.
Big Boi fans definitely will definitely not be disappointed with his latest effort, as he has put together yet another sold effort. We here at SFPL, are just eagerly awaiting another Outkast project. Hip-Hop NEEDS IT.
‘Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors’ is in stores December 11th on Def Jam Records.
