Step into our Exclusive Interview with Sammie.
Sammie, a lot of your female fans have been asking about you, Where have you been hiding?
I’VE BEEN FOCUSING ON MY CRAFT, GETTING BETTER EVERY DAY AS A VOCALIST, SONGWRITER AND PERFORMER. I WANTED TO RAISE THE BAR IN R&B, SO THAT’S BEEN MY PRIMARY FOCUS.
You’ve been known to have a strong R&B feel on your album, will you be venturing to new sounds on your upcoming project?
I’VE BEEN LISTENING TO A LOT OF COUNTRY, AND ARTIST SUCH AS KING OF LEONS AND THE SCRIPT. IT HELPS ME WITH MY STORY TELLING WHEN IT COMES TO WRITING PASSIONATE, HEARTFELT RECORDS. SO EXPECT AN ACOUSTIC FEEL ON SOME OF THE RECORDS ON THIS ALBUM. IS GOOD TO EXPAND AS AN ARTIST OPPOSE TO FOCUSING ON ONE GENRE.
You took some time off to pursue college after you graduated High School, what is some advice you have for kids who want to rush into stardom? What would you do differently?
I WOULDN’T RUSH INTO STARDOM, I’VE BEEN BLESSED TO HAVE HAD SUCCESS AT A YOUNG AGE, BUT I ALSO VALUE EDUCATION AND A SENSE OF NORMALCY. THAT ELEMENT HAS BEEN VERY ESSENTIAL IN BECOMING THIS YOUNG MAN AND ARTIST THAT I AM TODAY!
With who would be your dream collabo?
MY DREAM COLLABO WOULD BE WITH EITHER R.KELLY, STEVIE WONDER OR USHER… THOSE ARE MY THREE BIGGEST MUSICAL INSPIRATIONS, HANDS DOWN.
What are your 3 favorite CD’s of 2011?
WATCH THE THRONE, COLE WORLD, AND JESSICA REEDY’S (GOSPEL ALBUM) FROM THE HEART
Describe your personal style?
MY PERSONAL STYLE IS LAID BACK, YET CONFIDENT! IT’S ALL ABOUT MY AURA AND IT EXUDING SELF ASSURANCE!
What does the word FLY mean to you?
THE WORD FLY SIMPLY MEANS TO ME, BEING COMFORTABLE IN MY OWN SKIN. AND ALSO SOMEONE WHO INNOVATES. ISN’T AFRAID TO BE DIFFERENT.
Describe your most embarrassing groupie moment?
HMMM… MY MOST EMBARASSING GROUPIE MOMENT, I THINK WOULD BE WHEN THE MOTHER OF ONE OF MY FANS SEEMED TO BE MORE INTO ME AND REQUESTING ALONE TIME THEN HER DAUGHTER WAS. LOL! SHOUTOUT TO THE COUGARS ”I LOVE EM”
Tell us about how you linked up with 2 Chainz for your newest single “Gettin’ em?!
MY RECORD ”GETTIN EM” IS SO ROUGH AND RUGGED, I WANTED A RAPPER THAT EVOKED THAT SAME SOUTHERN SWAGGA, AND TO ME 2CHAINZ WAS A PERFECT MATCH. MY MANAGER ”NOONIE” REACHED OUT AND 2CHAINZ BLESSED ME 16 DOPE ASS BARS. I’D LIKE TO THANK HIM FOR MAKING IT COMPLETE!
You’re back, and better than ever, what do you want our readers to take a way from this interview knowing about you?
I JUST MY FANS TO KNOW, I’M FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR THE LOVE, SUPPORT AND MOST OF ALL LOYALTY! GOD IS SO GREAT TO ME. THE MUSIC FROM HERE ON OUT WILL ONLY EXUDE GREATNESS, PASSION AND TIMELESSNESS! I LOVE YOU ALL AND STAY TUNED!
