Something About Nicki…

‘These girls aren’t mad at me. They’re mad at themselves,” she states, shooting down questions on why she never took Kim’s bait. “[It’s] jealousy, insecurity and being broke. When you haven’t capitalized and you see I’m about to capitalize on this sh*t like it’s never been done before, then you’re mad at yourself.’

Nicki Minaj is definitely one of the most talked about MC’s since her partner Drake’s Buzz last year. But there is a big difference between the subject matter. Drake’s Buzz stemmed from his extraordinary mix-tape So Far So Gone. While Nicki’s is a mixture of anticipation, doubt and to put it frankly, hate. What’s it all about? Nicki’s debut album Pink Friday will be released on November 23rd and it literally seems like the World will be watching to see how she does.

But Nicki’s No Newbie…

She’s been grinding for YEARS …

Lil’ Wayne is the Christopher Columbus of this situation, he found what already exists! Yes, she is more refined now, a little more polished. But isn’t that how it’s supposed to be? Was she supposed to be the same Nicki from Queens? A true artist studies their Craft, from their peers and veterans and does it better. Or so I thought. So why all the hate?  The Lil’ Kim comparisons make sense. Kim is the Queen, of course Nicki is gonna take from Kim and attempt to do it better. Wouldn’t that be the logical thing to do?

I’m just confused as to why females can never coexist in Hip Hop without all the drama. You can’t take away the accomplishments of Kim or the women before her. But it’s Nicki’s time, you can’t ignore that either …

  1. You can’t take away the accomplishments of Kim or the women before her. But it’s Nicki’s time, you can’t ignore that either …<- Is there anything to say after this? I agree a 100%

  2. Ignoring the fact that’s old Cam flow, which Big Sean mastered, Kanye borrowed and mastered, then Young Money completely annihilated it, I agree with both posters. Gimmick or not, she went from irrelevant smack rapper to worldwide status without dropping an single album. You can’t knock the hustle.
