& Triplebeam Pictures presents King Of Paper Chasin’ on today, Oct 15th!

Indie Hip-hop artist/filmmaker Dwayne DL Clark gives new definition to the term “DIY”. On Today, October 15, 2010 a new precedent will be set when the feature film King Of Paper Chasin’ makes its debut in select theaters in the NYC area. With no major studio or financial backing, executive producer and lead actor DL, set out to defy the odds and overcome the many obstacles that an indie-filmmaker confronts when embarking on such an arduous task. Refusing to accept “NO” for an answer it seems DL has silenced the skeptics who redundantly expressed such an feat couldn’t be done.

First Michael Corleone, Tony Soprano and now Cart Blanche. In the city of 9 Million people everyone is engulfed in the everyday rat race chasing that almighty dollar. This movie tells the story of one of its own ‘Carter Blanche’. Carter has staked his claim to the american dream. But history teaches us that behind every wealthy empire is a major crime; and Carter’s rise to power is no exception. Trying to go legit, he is faced with deception, betrayal, and self serving agendas from those closest to him and must maneuver his way through all those who want to crumble what he has built. As he determines who’s friend or foe, the decisions Carter makes can, and will cost lives.

“I am extremely excited about the movie playing in theaters in NYC. Not only because its home but also because it is the number 1 market in the country. Anyone that knows about the film industry knows how difficult it is to get an indie movie in NY theaters. I was fortunate to have some key people at National Amusements and Regal Cinema theater chains believe in what I was doing and gave me the opportunity. I will always be thankful for that,” mentions DL.

“There has been a buzz around KOPC for awhile now, and it’s finally time that the masses get the experience. The most amazing thing to me has become the back story and the fact that we have proven it is possible to bring urban indie films to the big screen.”There is a large audience base for these types of films, and with the accomplishment of King Of Paper Chasin’ being in theaters despite resource and financial constraints, it only leads to ones imagination as to what the potential could be if traditional Hollywood support and budget were implemented,” he adds.

King of Paper Chasin’ is the brainchild of Queens-born, Dwayne DL Clark; a Hip-hop recording artist, who some music industry insiders are privately saying may have just crossed upon the next frontier of breaking artists in an otherwise slumping industry.
Opening this weekend in a modest five theaters, King Of Paper Chasin’ plans to expand to more theaters not only in NYC but in other markets across the country. “This is a very important statement we are making. If we get the support and turnout from our audience expect a new wave of filmmakers to follow.” “I am very excited to help lead the charge,” says Dwayne DL Clark.

DL portrays the role of “Carter Blanche” while Actress/Model Piarry Oriol takes on the role of DL’s distrusting girlfriend “Thalia”. This New York City crime-drama is inspired by actual events and is brilliantly captured and told by first time feature film director La Monte Edwards and is executive produced by Dwayne “DL” Clark. Additional cast members include Lauren Hooper (Rachel Anderson), J. Stephen Williams (Uglyman), Joe Soma (Agent Richardson), Jason Rivera (Dell) and Dennis L.A. White (JB) among others.
