MUSIC’S BIGGEST STARS CELEBRATE THE LEGACY OF QUINCY JONES ON NEW ALBUM ‘Q: SOUL BOSSA NOSTRA’
Usher, Ludacris, Akon, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, T-Pain, Robin Thicke, LL Cool J, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, and more cover classics from Jones’ catalog
(APRIL 9) New York – Multi-Grammy winning producer, arranger and composer Quincy Jones will release his next album, Q: Soul Bossa Nostra on Interscope Records in May/June 2010. Jones, who serves as Executive Producer on the album, enlisted a host of artists and producers to remake popular songs from his vast catalogue, including Usher, Ludacris, Akon, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, T-Pain, Robin Thicke, LL Cool J, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Wyclef Jean, Q-Tip, Talib Kweli, Three 6 Mafia, David Banner, BeBe Winans, Mervyn Warren, Jermaine Dupri, DJ Paul, and Scott Storch, among others.
“Each artist picked a song that really resonated with them for different reasons – some of them having a connection because they remembered their parents playing the track when they were growing up,” says Jones. “I am honored that everyone wanted to be a part of this celebration of these songs. They all made them their own, and knocked them out of the park.”
The album’s first single is Akon’s version of the 1977 Brothers Johnson classic “Strawberry Letter 23,” which is available on iTunes and Amazon.com.
